I'll toast to that OTW. We don't even have Kate Spade in Canada. I also hadn't even heard of the company before GC. Let's put it this way, think of the futility in my buying a Kate Spade bag. I'd spend an exhorbatant amount of $, and no one here would even appreciate the bag because they would have never heard of her either. So, here I would be, emptying my wallet for an expensive Kate Spade bag, and my fellow Canuks (and sorority sisters) would think it's a cheap bag cause they hadn't heard of the name http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif .

Really opens your eyes....one of those things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

My sorority essential is my camera and at least one roll of film. And i'm not just talking about having it for the big events like formals, but for those times when all the girls are just lounging around being silly, it's great to have a camera by your side to take snap shots of those moments http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif .

Back in the stone ages when I was an active, the sorority girl's necessities were a Swatch Watch ($25), Guess jeans ($40), and RayBan Wayfarers ($50 or so). Now I am seeing Tiffany bracelets, Kate Spade bags and Bebe pants and am thinking that, in addition to my daughters' college fund, I need to set up a clothing fund as well. If things keep going in this direction, their clothing and accessory expenditures will outweigh the tuition and board!

I don't want to get into the morality of this whole topic, I just think it is cute! So, at Michigan State U. what every sorority girl needs in MY opinion is...(please don't yell at me and call me a shallow sorority girl, I promise I am a truly nice girl!)
-Small, cute cell phone (usually a Sprint)
-Charlie Angel's sunglasses (authentic, no imposters)
-very chic denim jacket
-Prada black bag or backpack (classic!)
-Kate Spade purse just for fun (parties, etc.)
-Chanel glossimer to take everywhere!
-MAC blot powder (a girl's best friend!)
-a fav. perfume (Bvlgari Blv for me)
-subscription to Cosmo! (hehe)
-rhinestone studded bandana (for lazy days)
-any Tiffany jewelry of course
-SUV, bmw, mercedes or audi! (lots of bmw's and mercedes around here for some reason)
-lots of bebe, todd oldham, tahari, and versace
-a COUPLE hotties to DATE...no commitments (hehe)
-membership to fake and bake (it's frickin freezing here...we need it!)
-and the list could go on...but I will spare you the time!!! Greek life is awesome, and I love how all of you girls have great taste!

ACTUALLY...

Kate Spade is the wife of Andy Spade, brother of David Spade (who was on SNL)

They met at Arizona State (where Kate was a KKG) and they formed the business using her first name and his last name. They later married.
