Looks like they have a badge light - I love those!

Just clarifying that this is sorority row only. Fraternities at W&L have two "rows," Davidson Park and Red Square. Sorority Row (Frank Parsons Way) is definitely prettier than the fraternity rows... at least in my opinion.

It strikes me now that I haven't seen many Greek rows. I've seen W&L's and Davidson's (not too beautiful). Texas doesn't really have anything that qualifies as a row. I've seen UVA's and UNC's too I guess... Oh and William and Mary's. Nothing of them were as striking to me as W&L's sorority row.

Those pretty doors have windows made from Tiffany glass ;) Yes, they're insured.

Is it true they are insured by Lloyd's of London for an ungodly amount? She told me they were Tiffany glass!:)

Yes, they're insured by Lloyd's of London for about $1.5 million a piece.

Penn State's "Greek District" constitutes about half the adjacent town of State College, Pa. Its massive. And all the houses were constructed for greek-only purposes, so they are all pretty big and nice looking mansions.
We have a Fraternity Row, an on campus 'Fraternity Row', and then the rest of the district that is all Fraternities and senior houses.
Hands down the best I've seen out off the Big Ten (except maybe Illinois)

I've visited OSU once and never got to see 15th Street. I hope to do that one day.

I've seen Illinois' Greek Row and it was very impressive.

15th is the main "Row" at Ohio State, but many of the fraternities range from 13th to Iuka and Waldeck (north of 18th). Iuka is a really cool winding road where the houses sit up on the hill. The Sammie house is enormous! Because this was a residential area at one time, whenever a house went up for sale, a chapter would buy it and tear it down or remodel it.

The Alpha Gam house is one good example. The original house was built in 1930 and was a private residence at the corner of 15th and Indianola. The house association purchased it in 1952 and it remained relatively unchanged until the late 70s. Right before the chapter recolonized in 1979, the house associate bought and demolished the house behind it, and a 6000 square foot addition was completed bringing it to a little over 10,000 square feet.

I've been to a number of them. Even though it sounds biased, IU really is the best from what I've seen. Maryland's is okay, I really don't care for UVA's, Minnesota is kind of blah, and I don't like the roads around Purdue's. I think Illinois is most comparable to IU. The other schools I've been to don't really have a row -- everything is scattered or they are in dorms.

KSUViolet06 12-19-2008 10:49 PM

IU is pretty impressive. A really good friend of mine is an IU AXiD alumna, and while we were in college, I came out and toured the house. The sheer size of the house was ridiculous. I was in awe of the number of live-ins the chapters have too. A KSU chapter has like 70-80 girls and the houses sleep maybe 20ish max. I was in awe of the fact that the equivalent of one entire chapter at my school lived in the houses at any given time.

wolffootball37 12-20-2008 12:09 AM

The row at UNT is not very impressive as a whole, but i was very impressed with the whole Sig Ep house, the outside of the Kappa Sig house, and the inside of the Sigma Chi house.

Our sorority row is very nice though.

HELLZ YEAH! I'm glad we have some recognition.
Our greek row is absolutely gorgeous. We take such good care of it as well as our campus.
:D

NCSU's Greek Court is a joke right now, but they are constructing a Greek Village (modeled off of South Carolina's). Here is the ultimate plan:

Sorry it's so big. They are in phase 1 of the construction now. I think it's supposed to be done in 2018?

banditone 12-20-2008 04:25 PM

NCST will have the best Greek village when completed. It would be a blast to live there. Looks like you are a 1 minute walk from intramural fields and a concert pavilion. I'd put up with living 2 houses away from Squids for that :)
