They ask what is that? and we can say "I Owe Him"-- as in I owe Jesus Christ my life. And they can say "ahhh, I get it." But some of y'all would never understand.

Omicron is an 'O'

Which I have yet to see about other orgs. I have known backbiters and gossipers in them all.

FYI, I'm not the founder. I am NOT speaking on her behalf, I'm speaking on my own.

We will pray for you. Now run along... Why waste your time making fun of people when you have important work in the community to do? :)

Just for the sake of education, Omicron is an O that looks like an O, sounds like a O and doesn't have to be wrongly translated for lay people to understand it stands for an O. Iota Omicron Eta would have made a lot more sense. As for the argument that other organizations you've seen don't do good works for the community, have members that love their God (or Gods, whatever the case may be....we don't discriminate.) or have members who respect each other and the greek community as a whole, it just speaks to your ignorance of the greek system as a whole. You obviously just don't know any greek women. And by the way, it's not very polite to promise to pray for people like it's a threat!

If Greek letters are too confusing then why use them at all? Far better to use English and be clear, than to misuse Greek and look ignorant to those who do know Greek. Especially those who 1.) know that without a working knowledge of Greek you are unable to read the New Testament in anything other than a translation and 2.) have any knowledge of the founding of the original NPC, IFC, and NPHC GLOs.
As far as backbiting - look at that website. Could it be any more condescending to other GLO? Holier than thou doesn't begin to cover what is there. And look at the only post we have from a self-proclaimed "sister". What we have , ladies, is a pharisaical group of ignorant women who may try to emulate those who have gone before, but are a pale imitation.
There are many organizations that one may join in order to further a walk with Christ. Personally, I recommend a church - many of which have groups of women who meet to study, pray and do good works.
Please, please, if you are a member of this group, don't pray for me. Between my husband's congregation and church school I've got the whole prayer thing covered. Pray for yourselves, and the humility that Christ demonstrated.

Thanks...maybe I could use some divine intervention in things I choose to post as well! Nah...that wouldn't be as much fun!

kathykd2005 07-18-2007 06:11 PM

He gave us free will for a reason, right? :D

cuteASAbug 07-18-2007 06:15 PM

Of course, they also used Eta, which looks like the English H but is a vowel and is not the equivalent of the English H. But I guess Eta served their purposes.

I'm glad you found an organization that meets your needs and desires and that is doing positive things in your communities.

The high horse you seem to be riding, however, is not attractive and does little to win people over. And I would be happier to have your prayers -- I need all I can get -- if I thought they were offered with compassion and humility rather than with disdain and superiority.

I'm sorry you feel that way especially since you call yourself a sister in Christ. And not all churches have women's ministries... Mine for example.

The ladies of Iota Theta Eta didn't start this silly conversation. And I think people let it rip because they did not know it would get back to us... That seems like gossip to me...

Some people think partying throughout the week then dragging yourself into church on Sunday is living the Christian life. However, they are truly uneducated. Many times throughout the Bible it talks against drunkeness, fornication-- both things greek life is known for. We're providing an alternative.

FYI, I've had many ops to join a D9 (NPHC) sorority.. being that both my mom and my aunt are in the greek system. I choose not to for the above reasons.

As for the Omicron-- yes, it looks exactly like an "o". The line inside of the theta makes it "different". And gets people asking... Again, I need not waste anymore time on this matter. There are more important things to do. But people who want to contribute to our mission and purpose will join and see the truth. We are humble women, who love the Lord, AND who are providing a real alternative to "traditional" greek life. For God's grace we are growing each season. :) Our lines are getting longer. Praise Him!

Why so much talk about such a small org anyway if the people who are getting riled up did not feel threatened? :)

I don't think we'll get through to this one--it sounds like she has already brainwashed herself that she knows "the truth." <cringe>

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!

New Christian Sorority

OK, guys. Or is it properly y'all? Anyhow, I "lurked" for awhile before registering with GC. I've read alot of GC threads, but this one is truly hilarious!!!! Even though I consider myself a "good Christian," I am laughing so hard .......
To expect a Christian sorority to understand any social sorority is asking a bit much. What is the full saying, "From the outside looking in ________?" Thanks for the laughs, I needed them today. :D
