So I'm almost more upset about the portrayal of engineering students than I am about the greek life. Pretty cool that nobody on this show can be anything other than a stereotype.

No one wants to hang out with a piranha.

Completely agree.

An Untouchable -- a member of the lowest caste in traditional Indian society.

Psst... I knew. I was just quoting the script.

Stereotype #1 that was forgotten: the party girl yelling, "I'm so drunk!"

Uh.. no, actually, its a K and a Sigma, which is S.

Not really. Epsilon looks like an E. For an example, go look at the Tau Kappa Epsilon House. That is an E.
"whatever. It still looks like an E."
okay, we're done.

So true. And I especially love when people think that Sigma Kappa = Kappa Sigma.

I'm actually totally enjoying this show. I actually think they're approaching it as a satire of sorts...i've laughed my butt off several times now. The dialog is actually hilarious if you see it as a comedy...

"I played football for a year. In little league."

"So, why are you rushing?"
"To join a fraternity!"

"There were robots, Casey! Robots."

"How do you know her?"
"Like, in the Biblical sense..."
"Oh, from church!"

"Rusty, this is The Beaver..."
"Like from TV?"
"From TV?! Who sent you?! Are you a narc?!"

I dunno, i don't think people should see it as a dramatic depiction. I think it's meant to be over-the-top. Yet, it DOES have a lot of dialog that suggests that some of the writers are Greek...

its totally supposed to be a comedy and i really enjoy this show

The show was funny and I'm going to keep watching it. It's not an entirely flattering portrayal of Greek life, but nothing on TV is generally flattering. "Everybody Loves Raymond" sure doesn't make me want to go out and live next door to my mother-in-law, you know?

Even the stupidest people watching this show should be able to distinguish that this show is a comedy and is not completely accurate. However, my roommates and I did laugh at the things that WERE accurate... and the things that were so inaccurate and thus hilarious.

Salamandar 07-10-2007 01:23 AM

Not bad...pretty funny. I'd watch it again. It was the first episode and it looks like the kind of show that can get much better (or much worse depending on the direction they take, but I'm rooting for better)
