I am a proud member of Sigma Beta Xi Sorority! I have researched other organizations while in college, however, after finding Sigma Beta Xi I knew that I did not have to research anymore. I have received much slack for joining a newer organization but for me SBX was love at first sight. I am positive that I have made the right choice. Words can't describe the incredible bond that I have with my sorors. I am happy to have gone against the grain.

I enjoyed reading back through this thread. :)

Phi Iota Alpha
As a Distinguished member of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Incorporated I realized there is a little mixed confusion about when we were established from the beginning of the forum. Phi Iota Alpha was ESTABLISHED not FOUNDED, reason to why we do not have founding fathers. We are the joining of several other secret societies and orgs with the same ideas, they decided to come together and form one organization, and this was done on December 26, 1931, when Phi Iota Alpha Was Established. Ever since then Phi Iota Alpha was a Active Organization. From the times of 1977 to 1983 Phi Iota Alpha had no active Undergraduate members, until in 1983 when RPI re-established the organization. So we were established and been existent since 1931. That is a short summary of Phi Iota Alpha History.

I think you mean re-established an undergraduate presence -- when you say "re-established the organization" you actually contradict what you say about being an active organization since 1931.

I didn't want to join a sorority at all. I was completely opposed to the idea. I thought all sorority women were like Elle Woods and all they did was drink and buy shoes. One of my friends from class dragged me to a recruitment event my sophomore year. I realized I fit in with all the women and I had a great time. I went to a few more events with her and I learned a lot about the academic, professional, and philanthropic events that the sorority did and I became very interested. I fell in love with the group and when I was offered a bid, I happily accepted.
