Great job with this Irishpipes! One quick correction for you...
Delta Gamma at Washington University in St. Louis (MO) was definitely re-colonized in 1990, not 1993 as you have it. |
Awesome list, Irishpipes!
I just have a small correction regarding Pepperdine: Gamma Phi Beta was installed in 1997 (I was at the ceremony :) ). All of the NPC groups colonized in 1996, with Alpha Phi, DDD, DG, Gamma Phi, Kappa, Pi Phi and Sigma Kappa doing formal recruitment for the first time in fall 1996. Theta didn't participate in the first formal recruitment, but installed in early 1997. I thought all groups installed in Jan. or Feb. 1997, but I guess it's possible some squeezed it in before 1996 winter break. |
wow, crazy long list.
i too have corrections: -Chi Omega is no longer at sam houston state -ADPi at UNT was chartered in 1953, not 1958. -I believe Delta Gamma at UNT was originally chartered in 1954, not 1953 |
Just to help you out:)
Texas A&M: DZ (first one on campus), ADpi, KKG, XO, AGD (closed), and I think Aphi(closed) -1975 Theta-1976 tri delt, AXO in 1981 Pi Phi in 1985 DG in 1997 KD in 1999 GphiB-2003 No sororities existed before 1975 also, Southwestern University in Georgetown currently has DDD, ZTA, AxiD and ADpi, the rest are closed |
Alpha Sigma Alpha at Christopher Newport University was chartered in 2004.

Minor Correction - U of West Georgia
Delta Delta Delta was founded in 1971 not 1970. Rec. dates will be Aug. 30-Sept. 3 unless it is decided to do 1 day of Round 1 instead of 2 days. Interestingly, the sororities founded in 1971 were on Feb. 27, 2 on April 3, April 17 and May 29. Exciting times. There could be a 7th NPC added in 2008 if we get the new housing. |

It's not so much a mistake in the listing as it is breaking news:
San Diego State University should have a correction: Sigma Kappa 1950 - 2007 Sigma Kappa closed on February 13, 2007. :( .....Kelly :) |

I know. The current sisters took alumnae status in December. From what I understand, Sigma Kappa was going to hold a reorganization this spring. I work on campus and I had seen a few of their flyers and newspaper advertisements encouraging women to go out for recruitment. Around the beginning of February, I had tried to dial up the myspace site they were advertising and it didn't exist. Classes began on 1/18. No sooner had the flyers gone up than the decision was made to close on 2/13, less than one month (only 19 school days later). I was a little confused to see such a short turnaround. I'm not a Sigma Kappa, so I guess I'll never really know what happened. :( .....Kelly |
The Delta Gamma chapter at Emory University is no longer open.
|
Wow, what happened at LSU during the '80s?
closed 1980 - Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi 1983 - Phi Sigma Sigma 1984 - Alpha Epsilon Phi 1985 - Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta 1988 - Alpha Xi Delta Seven closed chapters in an eight year period? |
Quote:
Phi Sigma Sigma Omicron Chapter chartered in 1927 and closed in 1933. Northwestern State University of Louisiana - Tri Sigma is still open. University of Louisiana at Lafayette - Chi Omega closed in 1991 or 1992. Tulane University - Phi Mu closed ~1992. DZ closed in 1961. |

As I recall A Phi was chartered 1989 / 1990 (my junior year at A&M), but must have closed a few years after that. I do remember that they did not have a house on sorority row, they had a lodge. There was one sorority at A&M right before 1975 and that was Phi Mu. They were not on campus for very long. |
