Thanks Soror!! :)

This thread is all Rudey's fault.

The triple wide can't be far behind :(

I find this topic distasteful..but in any case, I have a friend (20 yrs old), 3rd year in college, Chemistry major, recently got inducted into an honor society, VP of her sorority..and yet, she is pregnant. Not by accident, either. Apparantly, she and her boyfriend were trying to start a family. Yes, she is low-income (but definately not "ghetto" "trailer trash" or any other words to categorize "poor" people). I don't think her class status had anything to do with her decision to have this kid. She's going to have her baby during the summer, and eventually go back to school.

I also just met a girl at my law school, first-term student, who is 5 months pregnant. She is planning on coming back to finish law school after a semester off.

So, not every girl who gets pregnant drops her life/education/career because they chose (or by accident) had a baby. They eventually get back into the game.

Also, maybe its more tabboo for upper class girls to get pregnant. And they can definately afford abortion.

Rudey once asked me the philosophical question. "Would you bang a pregnant chick?"

If my wife was preggers, then sure yeah I'd do her. Atleast I hope she would. I hope she doesnt balloon up to like 100 lbs or 150 lbs over. Yikes.

Rudeys response was " Only if her name was Lexie"

Her and her "boyfriend"? That's insane.

I guess they don't believe that the parents really need to be committed to eachother?? Is marriage obsolete to some? I just cannot fathom wanting to bring a baby into the world under those circumstances on purpose.

I plan on practicing family law after I finish law school, so people like that get me seeing $$$ in my future. Thank god for them and their stupidity. I see paternity and child support collection cases in my crystal ball.

I totally don't mean to be serious in this thread, but yes, marriage is obsolete to some. Even if it isn't considered obsolete, marriage does not always mean the parties are committed to each other, and lack of marriage does not always mean that they aren't. Marriage might be central to your idea to family and children, but everybody does not share that world view -- I'm sure it varies quite a bit geographically and, of course, in terms of religion.

If you go into the practice of law viewing your clients as idiot cash cows, you're going to end up bitter and hating your job. Also, paternity and child support collection aren't going to make you bank -- you're more likely to see the $$$ if you represent the well-off people who share your attitude that marriage is of the utmost importance -- that is, until they want to bang their secretaries and get the car and the house.

hey KTSnakes On a Plane. Would you bang a chick that was preggers?

SoCalGirl 05-03-2006 09:30 PM

I knew several girls in high school that got knocked up. It defintely throws educational plans a curve ball.

There was a girl that I used to work with at my current job who was the epitome of upper middle class teen mom:

She's super duper ultra sugery sweet. She got pregnant in high school and married the dad. Within a few years of the third kid being born she finally got divorced. He was an alcoholic who couldn't keep a job. She enrolled in college and moved her three kids and herself to a one bedroom apartment in the ghetto. At least it was ghetto compared to where she grew up. She worked full time and went to school full time. Her jobs? She was a grocery store cashier and a stripper. Which paid quite nicely her tuition bills, rent, and Mexican breast implants. She graduated in three years and was on the dean's list.

Well see, I was raised to believe in marriage. But who am I to enforce my set of rules and values onto others (and trust me, upbringing is more conservative than the average)? I have met quite a few people who dont have much faith in the institution of marriage. But you know, it's not my life, my family, my kids, so at the end of the day..who cares?

Also, marriage is not the end all and be all. Lots of people nowadays grow up in single-parent homes, and still manage to get ahead in life (or pursue the things that have meaning to them).

I'd have sex with it as long as it had a vagina. Oh, and it can't be overweight
