my friend got to know that site very well because of her beetle convertible. cute car. tons of problems. |
From my own experience of owning a VW as well as working at a VW dealer - DON'T buy one! They have TONS of problems, mostly electrical and cost tons. The only good VW's are the Passat & the Gulf - the Toureg has a lot of problems still, the Jetta is a POS and the Beetle is high maintenance.
I'm on my second Acura and I LOVE IT! It's been great - I did just have to replace the transmission but it was under warrenty (and there was a recall). It's an 01 CL type S with just over 50K miles. Quote:
As far as your first 3 choices I wouldn't get the RX8 - it's not very well made and doesn't drive that great. Be careful with the 350Z - I have a few friends that own them and they've had some costly repairs - like brakes and such. I haven't heard anything bad about the GTO and from what I know they drive nicely. JMO |
I have 3 friends who all have GTO's. 2 of them said they would never buy soemthing different and love their car. None of them have had problems with them so far. Only one had a problem but it was his own fault, driving over a curb and bent his rim up, it took a while to get a new rim in from the factory though, but he loves the car....
My neighbor has a 350Z and likes it. Says he would have gotten a Lexus instead though. Mazda- my hubby likes a lot. My SIL just rented one of those for vacation in Fla and loved that car. I dont know much about them though and she only used it for a week. Said it drove nice and was a smooth ride. |

i have a 2001 jetta and it SUCKSSSS. wow. ive had it for 2 years, and the DAY I BOUGHT IT i had to bring it back because my check engine light went on. Then 2 months later, my parking cellinoid got jammed at school, and i had to be ROCKED and TOWED. nice. this has happend 3 different times since then, and the last time it happend it cost me $550 for a freakin censor. so annoying. and just recently, if you dont literally SLAM the door, this annoying beeping noise goes off because that censor doesnt think that the door is really shut. its quite the experience to be driving 80mph down the vegas freeways and all of a sudden out of no where, this loud beeping goes off. and they want to charge me $500 for that as well. i said no thanks, ill deal with the noise once in a while if thats the case. its just so annoying. dont buy a jetta. and that sucks because i really like the car. |
I bought a 2001 Jetta in May 2002 and I've never had a single mechanical issue with it. I love my Jetta!
|
I've had 4 jettas, an 88, a 96, a 2000 and now a 2003. And I've never had any major problems with them. My 2003 gets horrible gas mileage, but that's really my only complaint.

My boyfriend has an '04 350Z, the Enthusiast model. He is completely in love with his car, and has had a great experience dealing with Nissan when he was getting it. He hasn't had any problems, but has chosen to do a lot of upgrades/modifications, and has really liked the people he dealt with both at the Nissan dealership and car shop.
And its really fun to borrow, cuz heads are always turning to see who's driving the car, lol...very fun to drive. :) |
Since you mentioned modifications: What is the appeal of having hydraulics and riding around with the ass of the car in the air and the left front side low-riding??? I saw a black SUV on my way in to work like this, and at first, I thought the stupid thing had a flat tire the way it was leaning. It can't be easy to drive like that, and you look like an asshat whose car needs serious help, so what is the point???

Simple, it is a Moroon Alert! Hey buy $1000.00 each rims and put skinny tires on it! Change the configuation of a car and rides like a lumber wagon. It aint no cat driving Motor car for sure! |
