2 statements and I'm gone..
#1. Non-Greeks normally see Greeks doing service when 'they themselves' are also doing service or are in the same organizations/at the same causes (breast cancer awareness/walks, tutoring, helping Katrina victims, etc). Those non-Greeks that aren't service oriented at school won't see those things and might assume they're not taking place. It's also on the Greeks to promote the service as if it was a party (even though, Bibically.. you're not supposed to really 'big up' yourself when doing service.. but that's neither here nor there for this thread). #2. Centaur... there's a time and a place for everything. I never would expect any Man to be a punk. But your probate show is not the time to throw darts. And that goes for any org. The main problem with modern day Undergrad Greeks is that after they finish pleadging, their Prophyte stop teaching the culture of the Fraternity and Sorority to them. They just sorta teach them the challenges.. a few Marches/steps and turn them loose. Which has ended up in these not fully taught Greeks losing a lot of traditions and making up ish as they go. ie: crossing hand signs, unity steps (WTF), unity calls (ditto), Fraternities doing Sorority steps (Super Gay... at a stepshow, if I wanna see an AKA step, the AKA's should be doing it). Vice Versa for the Sororities... You all have rich stepping histories. Do your S#!t !!! Cause you represent yourself better than anybody else. I don't need to share a 'sign, step, handcall' with you to call you my brother/friend/patnah and definitely not to 'show unity'. I can (and do) show unity with you when we do joint service to help our campus and community and support each others events without tearing each other down. Now.. there is a place for clowning and jokes.. and it's called your "Yard Show" or just any other non-formal time you feel like stepping/showing out. |
Even thought I may not have agreed with the pro show, I do feel it is the organization's decision on what they include in the show. If that means insults and disses to other BGLO then so be it. It's their pro show and they can do whatever they want in it.
I am just glad my pro show wasn't like the one we are referring to. |

MeezDiscreet, djjukebox ya'll get out of my head. I could not have made your points any better. Going back to the original topic, this is why I am mostly if not completely against dissing other greeks at shows. It attracts prospects for the wrong reasons. If we act 'gangsta' at our shows we attract 'gangsta' prospects and so on with shows where our chapters act ignorant, angry, and immature. like it or not, our social events are our biggest recruiter b/c that is what non-Greeks see and remember most.

And yes, I do think it was ignorant to disrespect the NPHC as you did. I'm quite confident that shouting out "F___ PHC" in the middle of the show did nothing to better greek relations on this campus. |

My First Reply on this site: lol
Dissin other frats in step shows and show are cool when it is all in good fun. I feel that it should never go personal or really speak of any experiances that actually happen. If you are going to dis another greek organization just talk about the sterotypes of the organization. But dont be ignorant and actually call out the names of people infront of the whole campus. It is suppose to be all in good fun but once u go out to destroy someones reputation that is going to far. I feel that the show that is being discussed was more about other people's business and organizations then actually about them and their organization. Dont they have anything they learned about themselves. YO! |
^^
Hey Spec, Welcome to GC! ;) |
Thank you Mary but i feel i will believe what i believe WITHOUT your opinion first off secondly, you are promoting this "campus unity" on the internet but how do you think the little smart remarks and comments you make to individuals about other organizations is helping unity? I mean get off this fake tip please... but if playing holy on a greek chat forum makes you sleep at night so be it. Our show was good and i do mean PROBATE SHOW! So if you wasnt feeling it fine... take out phc and put in Mary if you so choose i dont care anymore. I just think its high time we call it like it is and stop with the fakeness... when you crossed delta you felt as if you were better than people and wanted to turn your nose at any Iota you saw... even when i said congrats you acted funny. Dont talk about helping campus unity until you take care of home. When you all stop educating the new deltas to be haters then we can speak on becoming unified.

Nope, I do not speak to certain members of your organization. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why. If you want to act clueless as to why, thats fine. If the above qualifies me as a phony person, by not speaking to you, or select members in your org, so be it. You know what the deal is and has been. And new Deltas?  If you've disrespected any member of my chapter past or present, no, I surely will not deal with you. To the men of Kappa Alpha Psi, I apologize that this post is not on topic. |
I must say that the topic of this thread has gone far from what it was intended to be. But I will still throw my 11 cents in. I am SO against personal attacks at probate shows. At the Alpha Probate Show they broke plastic canes and threw them at us. In retaliation some of my LB's and Chapter brothers posted the rejection letters belonging to 8 members of that line who had attempted to pledge Kappa the semester before. Some of those 8 were my friends and till this day we don't speak. I never get mad when someone chants against or disses my frat, because I myself and Kappa Alpha Psi are so above that. But lawd forbid someone call me out in a show. I am liable to forget my manners and act a got-damn fool.
Personal jabs, NO MATTER ON WHAT CAMPUS, are taking it too far. I don't see how someone would be so dense as not to believe that calling someone out personally would not cause someone...shockingly, TO TAKE IT PERSONALLY! That's just plain idiosy at its finest. This thread has gotten personal, this subject matter is personal, and personally I find it all to be unnecessary. A probate show is intended to INTRODUCE NEW MEMBERS!!! Not diss other organizations or anyone in general. Just ask your profites if they're for real. ***Marquise slams door on this thread*** |

anyhow, while watched the fireworks in this thread unfold...one statement really stands out in my mind. "no one likes it when it's them." now, i don't know nor do i really care about greek unity on OSU's yard, or any yard for that matter, and i don't particularly give a shit....but let's face it, beefs are an everyday occurence. nature of the beast when you have conflicting group-thinks. whether or not i think that the method in addressing said beef is cool is irrelevant. the point is that if and when you're going to partake in shady shit knowingly or whatever....it's going to be called out, whether at a come out, during a pan meeting, ect. let us not pretend to be on some higher moral ground and try to chastize those who decide address these issues in a high profile event where it could possibly be embarassing when it wouldn't have happened either way in the first place. that's human nature. let us be thankful that it didn't end with a fight or someone losing an eye. |
