Maybe everyone that WANTS to be, but no one who IS.

I was on the phone when Reese won so I didn't get to see her speech :(

I didn't see any of the other best picture nominees, but I don't think Crash deserved it. I saw it and was just like ehhhh... didn't think it lived up to the hype at all.

ASUADPi 03-06-2006 08:46 AM

I thought the show started at 7, so I missed an hour, oh well.

ariesrising- OMG Matt Dillon did look fine last night didn't he! Hey he's single. Woo Hoo!

As for best picture. I'm not sure most know this but best picture, actor and actress are voted on by members of the academy. So basically if you are part of the academy it could be a popularity contest on who wins these three awards.

(Just an FYI the other categories, Best Music for example, "leaders" in that field, they chose a select few and those people watch or listen to the best "whatever" nominees and make the decision. Its not open to the Academy)

If you personally liked Crash better than Brokeback Mountain your going to vote for Crash. Whether the movie deserves it or not is to be determined.

Plus, I haven't seen Crash, but the subject matter is very current (just like Brokeback Mountain). There is still definately racism in this country just like homosexuality is very prevelant.

His imdb bio has 5'11" as his height. Even if he is 5'9" that could still work for me. I could wear flats and bend down. I have a master plan.

That "Brokeback" PR guy who used to post all those threads about the movie must be really upset.

I'm glad Phillip Seymour Hoffman won; he was great in "Capote," and definitely deserved it.

I didn't think "Brokeback" was all that special, but I was still kind of surprised it didn't win. I thought it had been the chosen movie from the moment it was released.

I just want to say that Michelle Williams' dress was MEGAFUG.

That is all.

I didn't watch any of the red carpet stuff, but from the pictures i've seen online, most of the dresses last night were MEGAFUG

Michelle Williams mixing the bright yellow of that dress with the horrendous red lipstick looked goofy. She's so fair skinner with blond hair that the red lips looked incredibly goofy with the canary yellow.

Amy and I decided she went as Big Bird.

Peaches-n-Cream 03-06-2006 11:07 AM

Even though Michelle Williams looked like Big Bird, at least she wore some color. Everyone seemed to wear cream, ivory, or beige and looked naked, or they wore black or navy.

I live here...I know this city....I know the entertainment industry very well...it was not going to win...it may seem liberal to the outside, but its not.....besides....you should know not to believe the "hype"...I am not saying that Crash is the best thing since sliced bread....but Brokeback Mountain nor Capote had a snowballs chance in hell. It did deserve the other awards that it did get in the academy...YAY for Philip Seymour Hoffman, I just love him and also YAY for best adapted screenplay...and Ang Lee was going to win for best director....there was no doubt about that....

It was the chosen movie beause it was about a couple of queers....and hollywood loved that. Crash was a better movie by far.
