The school was almost named Einstein University though...and I don't know if anyone would name their kid Einstein! |
I've actually considered using Emory for a child's name.

I had a professor who named his son Yale. I thought that was reallly cute. :D

Thank you for this thread bump. I had a haha when I saw it, especially when I remember why this thread was created. :p
I wonder how little Dartmouth is doing? |
My boss named his daughter Denison - I thought it was freaky at first but now I really like it. It was her mother's maiden name, though...not named after the school.
I would never name a child this, but there are thousands of animals here named Bama - I have only heard it used as a nickname for a person. I thought of using the name Bryant, but was afraid of too many Bear Bryant jokes. |
That Reminds me of Scarlett Ann Grey. She went by Ann and changed her last name when she got married (but she did go to Ohio State).
My son went to daycare with a little boy named Kenyon who had an older sister named Oberlin (but they spelled it Oberlynn or something). |
I have friends who named their son Troy and their daughter Helen. They are clearly Southern Cal alums!

No one's probably going to believe me on this, but I swear to god, someone once sent me an article about a couple in PA that named their kids "Nittany" (girl) and "Lion" (boy). No lie. Any other PA-ers remember that? I'll have to blast my email list and try to shake out who I got that from. I promise I'll try to cite the source, but I swear I'm not making it up. You can't make stuff like that up.

I don't remember it, but don't worry, I TOTALLY believe you. The pets are probably named Paterno and The Diner.

I remember seeing some one with two boys with name to the effect of Neyland and Eli Knoxville.
I had to shake my head but then I remembered my dad would have done that. I'm glad I'm a girl or I might have ended up Neyland Bryant or something like that being the child of UA/TN mixed marriage. |
I do know some Ole Miss alums who named their miniature dachshund "Archie Manning!"
|
I'm going with Faber.

If I was naming after alma maters I guess I'd have Mary and Dom. Pretty boring. I like the school mascot names but naming my son Testudo would just be cruel. :D
