Yeah certain cuts of 7s run small. but other ones don't. My old sevens were a bigger size than my new ones, yet hold them up to each other and they are the same. I am a 6-8 and my new ones are a 29, but my Paiges are a 28, so every brand and every cut are different.

I bought jeans at Sevens at Bloomie's on Saturday. The inseam on them is 34". I look best with 33" so I'd like them taken up a bit (original cuff). Has anyone had their jeans taken in at Bloomie's? Do they do a good job? I figured that I'd bring them there since that's where I bought them but I also have a pair of Paige jeans that I bought at Nordstrom. Will Nordstrom be willing to alter jeans that weren't purchased at their store (like the Seven jeans I bought from Bloomie's)?

Bump!
I'm having a jean crisis in my life!! I think I have narrowed down that the biggest issue is that I can't deal with the amount of "stretch" in denim anymore. I want jeans that fit and will generally stay the same shape! It's very frustrating because I am buying what I thought were decent jeans (not super cheap, but not high end, i.e. Gap, The Limited, Levi's...) I think the other problem is that I am so terrified of muffin top that I buy jeans that fit "perfectly" when I try them on but because of the amount of stretch in them, they stretch out and wear out easily, even though I avoid washing (spot clean only) unless necessary and never put them in the dryer. It also doesn't help that I'm pretty pear shaped (28w/40h). It's not that my hips are THAT wide (they're kinda wide), but it's mostly just the butt. I think I'm also noticing these changes because I've gotten into pretty good shape--I'm not losing weight but I've definitely put on muscle and my shape overall is changing. So my skinny jeans that used to fit me so well are now super awkward. Does anyone have a recommendation on good quality jeans?? Something that will last and not stretch out? Or is stretch completely normal and I need to get over my muffin top fear because it's not really a muffin top and I'm just very paranoid? |
Can't help you. In my mind, the perfect jeans are those that are clean and that I can actually zip and button shut, not necessarily in that order. :D

Try Calvin Kleins. They didn't work on me until I gained a little weight and then they were perfect. You might have to hunt to find non-stretchy ones though.
And go the vintage store/goodwill/what have you and look for old, GOOD women's nonstretchy Levi's. The back patch needs to look like this. If it says "Every Garment Guaranteed" on it run fast, run far. That is when Levi's started going downhill. Of course the Levi's with fancy schmancy pockets are just no. |
I'm middle-aged, so it can be challenging to find jeans that look halfway decent on my no-longer youthful body. I like jeans that have some lycra built in. My current favorites are Jones New York Sutton and NYDJ.

lovespink88, I have the opposite problem. If (non-stretchy) jeans fit my waist, I can fit a family of four in the hips. I've yet to find a pair of regular jeans that work for me. Sadly, my husband has jeans which have a give in the waist, but are still good looking. I'm tempted to try them!
