Let's PRETEND that every woman knows there's a slip-up and could have potentially become pregnant. Does that woman not have the RIGHT to think about whether she wants to have the child and change her mind BEFORE the abortion is no longer possible?

I think we've already established that I'm pro-life, not pro-choice. So in answer to your question, my feelings are that, no, she should not have that right, and not have that choice. I cant change the fact that some women do it, but you asked what my feelings were, so there you go.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, are you saying women who have abortions are chickens? Many times there are extenuating circumstances. When you have an administration who thinks abstinence is the only good birth control and makes it hard for people to get it affordably, of course you are going to have unplanned and unwanted pregnancies. I'd like to know how many pro-lifers are willing to pay taxes to support these children on welfare. Personally, it doesn't affect me if someone gets an abortion. I don't think I would have one, but I am happy that I have the freedom to choose what is best for me.

As for instances of rape, the morning-after pill isn't a fabulous remedy. What about the women who were raped and afraid to tell someone or even think about the possibility of being pregnant for a month or two? Should you force them to go through the psychological trauma of carrying a criminal's child?

But your argument is rather infantile. It is obvious you really do not know the demographics of women and girls that are getting abortions.

Most of them are not rich white girls who will ruin their modeleque figures who actually can afford the patch and jump around for the latest method of pregancy prevention... (And I won't even go into sexually transmitted infections...)

Most of them are poor women/girls of color who cannot afford basic healthcare that are crack addicted prostituted strippers because they have no family structure to begin with at home...

Usually 40-something year old grandma is taking care of them with 5 other grandchildren running rampant...

And since no one gives a rat's ass about a pregnant one-third black-asian-latino 12 year old incest rape victim, then either her baby gets born on the streets and thrown in the trash can, left at the hospital on very expensive neonatal support or just plain aborted to save money on taxes...

She also doesn't understand birth control or reproduction. If you are on the tricyclic pill and ovulate twice a month, it may only stop one of the ovulations because of the change in hormone levels in the pill at various stages of the cycle. That's how I got pregnant on the pill. I miscarried that time, since I didn't know I was pregnant and continued to take the pill, but a miscarriage in that situation isn't guaranteed.

My daughter is the result of condoms and foam together. What are the odds? Probably a zillion to one. Well, she's here, and I love her dearly and her father and I were in a position to raise her and care for her, so we were lucky that time.

If you think you are always aware that a condom has failed, then you are mistaken. It takes a microscopic hole in a condom for sperm to get out and you may never know it. It's true that abstinence is the only guarantee that you won't get pregnant. I even know a woman who got pregnant after her husband had his vasectomy and tested as clear. She ended up having 3 kids in LESS than 3 years. She's tired. I also know someone who got pregnant after having her tubes tied. There are NO guarantees and anybody who thinks there are is simply mistaken.

It's not always an issue of "affording" it.

Aside from that, it's not up to you to decide whether the hypothetical crack-addicted prositute can have an abortion or not. I don't think she cares if you have any sympathy for her or not, and your opposition to abortion on moral and/or religious grounds does not provide a legal basis for banning it or denying anyone's access to it.

I can't understand why you're all spazzed out over this. My opinion obviously isnt going to change anything. Abortion is "legal" but my opinion is that it shouldnt be, and all I'm doing is expressing my feelings on the issue.

You're saying that your opinion is that abortion shouldn't be legal, but you're not providing any reasoning to support a determination that abortion shouldn't be legal. There's a difference between expressing your feelings and engaging in an argument -- I must have misunderstood because I thought you were trying to engage in an argument when you really were just expressing your feelings. The thing is, I want to understand how you make the leap from being opposed to abortion for your own moral and/or religious reasons to saying that abortion should not be legal for anyone else.

Well duh. The same reasons I feel it's wrong for me, is the same reasons it should be wrong for anybody else. I can give you a ton of examples, and all of them will be disputed. They are the same exaples you hear everytime this issue is discussed. I feel that a "fetus" is alive, and I feel that abortion is wrong, because it is murder. Period. That in itself is the ONLY reason you should need. People go to jail for murder, they get the death penalty in some cases. murder is murder, killing is killing. You may not agree with my stance, but you asked me why it should be wrong for everyone else, so there you have it.

But that is only your religious grounds. Certain religions, like mine, think that abortion should be legal and up to the woman to decide if she wants one. While I know that won't change your opinion, my "religious grounds make a whole lot more sense than the reasons pro-lifers have."

You're right. Murder is murder and killing is killing. You've inspired me -- you might not know this, but I'm a strict vegetarian. I think eating meat is morally wrong and I feel that animals are alive. I really should get out there and start lobbying for laws that prohibit anyone else from eating meat because murder is murder and killing is killing, and nobody should be allowed to kill animals and eat them. Innocent animals are still eligible for death, just because you want something tasty for dinner. Well, I'm not going to stand for it any longer!

Even with BC there's a chance you will concieve. I didn't expect this baby. But luckily my fiancee and I were in a place where we could feasibly have a child, even if it wasn't planned. I cannot imagine finding out I was pregnant after a one night stand. I cannot imagine raising a child without a father or with someone who I don't know. I can't say for sure that I would have an abortion, but I like to know my option is there. It's no one's business besides the people who made the child.
