:)
Aunt D?

I dreamed about some of these women last night. I swear what Oprah did, no one else could have done and had it come out that way.:)

I was in complete AWE!!!!!!!!! There are no word that can express how unbelievably beautiful it was to see all those BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMEN together. My hat off to Ms. Oprah. She did the dayum thing with such class and grace.:D

I did notice that Aretha was either not there or they didn't show her. Also Ms. Whitney was not there either.

Those earrings she gave as gifts were just gorgeous!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is thank you Jesus!! That was very well needed and appreciated. Oprah did her thang. These great women that paved the way for many people were recognized for all that they do/have done. I'm so glad that it was done while Coretta was alive. I'm also glad it went the way that Oprah wanted it to go as far as the legends realizing why she had the gathering and how they showed they really appreciated it. It was very emotional.

Oh my Stars..

It was a beautiful event...I wish I could have even been a server at the event just so i can say I was there..It certaintly made me look inside and see what more I can do in my everyday life. Sometimes I think our generation thinks because of all those that came before us and did what they have done, the battle is won. When I see parents molesting/abusing their own children, kids killing kids, and all the other things that make me wanna holla, I know the battle is far far from over.

WE SPEAK YOUR NAME......to the local women in our own lives that have made an impact on us....Thank you. :D

I was in complete amazement during the special. Oh to have been there!!!!

I was cool until the Sunday brunch. I had a Holy Ghost moment just watching. You could truly see how real God was in the lives of those who sang.

I loved that poem before it was used in this event but now, I would love to do something for my mother with it. Angela performed her piece of the poem!

What a beautiful experience...

Bamboozled, that is such a great idea, to honor the legends in our lives. It's alright that you read my mind through the computer and took my idea and presented it as your own. I don't mind! ;)

Just kidding...but that really is a spectacular idea.

The entire show was so moving and soul-stirring! Oprah knows she can make folks cry....

I don't really care for Oprah so I wasn't too sure about it but....

It was beautiful! I just sat and stared at the TV in awe. I couldn't even move during the commercials. It made me so proud (prouder) to be a Black woman.

Maria Shriver, no one was going to pass you the mic. Trust. You see no one gave Ashanti the mic. It was painful enough to listen to her interviews
I was cracking up when Maria said that. She was in no danger of receiving the mic. THANK GOD they passed on Ashanti too!

That was one of the greatest programs I've seen in a long time on prime time television. The weather was beautiful, everyone looked cool and comfortable. It was just great, I'm glad I took the time to stop and watch it last night.

I agree, I was moved and I was just an observer. It was great to see women come together in appreciate for one another and not about the glamour or the money they have, they were just women who have accomplished mountains. I would have loved to be a fly on that wall. I am thinking of planning something like that for all the women in my life who have planting valuable seeds and investments in me. Man that was a great idea and the event planner did his thing. I also loved the Sunday event when they passed the mic around. Sorors Phylicia Rashad, Coretta Scott King, and Alicia looked great also. I wonder why destiny's child wasn't there!

I was so touched and inspired. Its amazing how you think you acknowledge those those inspire you on a daily basis but it is so different watching someone really show their honor and respect for real icons. I cried my eyes out! The Sunday Gospel brunch was breathtaking. I WISH I could have been there in person to see all of those women grab that mic and sing as beautifully as they did, with no notice!!! Truly amazing.

What would be nice is if someone would now do this for our African American men- in the same fashion- have the young honor those who came before them.

So did Soror Obsession. Truly moving and inspiring, indeed...co-sign on what everyone has already said. I want a DVD, the poem, a soundtrack...anything I can get my hands on. My aunt, her friends, and I are still talking about it. Just extraordinary...extraordinary...

Im not a frequent poster, but came on just to share this amazing moment with other people...I had to TIVO it becuase of work and just finished watching. That was absolutely amazing. I am completely touched and overwhelmed. It was history happening right before our eyes.

Oprah did what we all wish we could do...and that was to thank the many people who paved the way for us. It was truly a moment I will remember for the rest of my life...
