Engagement...old news. Fairly new is the baby and even newer is that they will marry very soon because of it. I was sitting here counting on my fingeres when I read Star saying she was preggo. I was like "1,2,3...wait the Flavio baby is like three months old and she is like 2 months preggo (that was maybe a month ago)...that oehay don't waste NO time." Seriously, her baby is an arm baby and she is 5 months pregnant with Seal's baby. What happened to the 6 week waiting period? I guess Seal wanted to "seal" the deal ASAP. |
:: Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of April 4th, 2005:
The long awaited album and comeback for Singer Whitney Houston has been put on hold indefinitely. Whitney is back in rehab, and according to sources, she was forced backed. Whitney's mom Cissy has had enough. She could see her daughter was killing herself. Cissy realized she couldn't take another day of looking at her. Whitney was skeletal and just a shell of her former self. Her hair and teeth were falling out, and she looked like an old woman. Cissy had to take quick action to save her daughter who was caught up in the nightmare of cocaine and crystal meth. Georgia's Fulton County Probate Court put out the order to force Whitney back into rehab. Whitney fought the police the entire time, and she had to be put in a cage in the police van. Whitney is scheduled to be released at the end of the month if she is better, but what will be the next step? Will Bobby be there to help his wife? Will he encourage her to leave drugs alone? Will he set an example by leaving them alone himself? Can her mom keep the drug dealers away? They would show up at the house ready to give Whitney whatever she wanted. Whitney's Mentor Clive Davis is disappointed. But, he realized she is sick with addiction, and she will not live much longer if she continues to do drugs. Davis was working with her on a comeback album. He had big plans for her in 2006, but now that has been put on hold. Will "The Bernie Mac Show" be back for another season? This could be the show's final season. The show now airs Friday nights at 8pm. "The Bernie Mac Show" has had its share of ups and downs. Between Bernie's lung illness and the different time slots, the show has lost its buzz. For a couple of seasons, you never knew when the show was coming on, and people lost interest. Will the Fox Network renew the show for another season? Alicia Keys is getting the Starlight Award at the 2005 Songwriters Hall of Fame. The ceremony takes place in June. Alicia will be in town this coming Sunday the 10th along with John Legend at the Liacouris Center. She is also the cover girl for the latest edition of Elle magazine. Alicia looks fabulous. Baseball Star Barry Bonds is finding out the hard way about a woman scorned. Barry not only has to worry about the steroid scandal, but an old girlfriend is ready to tell all. Bonds former mistress Kimberly Bell says she is ready to tell all, including his steroid use, income tax evasion, money laundering, perjury and evasion of bank reporting laws. Bell was Bonds' mistress for nine years. She was with him when he divorced his first wife and the first five years of his marriage to his second wife. Bell says she gave up a great job and family to be with him, but he turned into an impatient, intolerant, quick-tempered man. Bell probably realized she was not the type of woman he would marry, so she is going to go for his money. Vanessa Williams wants her husband back! Vanessa says she still loves Former Basketball Player Rick Fox, despite his cheating. Vanessa says the door is still open for her ex, and she says right now, he is the only person she will have sex with. Rick loves Vanessa, but he has no desire to be married. They are still friends and they have a young daughter, but Rick says no more marriage for him. He says he is not the marrying type. NESSA, GIRL, leave that adulterer alone!! Is there another scandal for "American Idol?" Yes! Last week it was revealed that Contestant Scott Savol had a police record. In 2001, Savol roughed up his baby mama, and he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He also got a year's probation. Producers say his past record will not hurt his chances on the show. Another contestant, Anwar Robinson, made headlines when it was revealed he was a frequent visitor to blackplanetlove.com looking for men. Anwar is the brother with the locks and the beautiful smile. He has not denied this story, and close friends say it is no big deal because he is openly gay. Dr. Phil is coming to the rescue of Entertainment Reporter Pat O'Brien. Pat is in rehab for alcohol abuse, and has also been making headlines for his own scandals; everything from drugs and nude photos to racially offensive remarks and sexual harassment on the job. O'Brien is expected to come clean with Dr. Phil about his demons. Producers for his TV show 'The Insider' say that he will be back on the air in time for May sweeps. The romance is over between Halle Berry and Actor Michael Ealy. He was her co-star in the ABC-TV movie 'Their Eyes Were Watching God.' The two became close on the set, and lived together for a while. Halle wants a baby, but she refused to get married again after two disastrous marriages. Michael wants to do things in proper order. He does not want kids before marriage. Did this drive a wedge in their relationship? Halle has moved on, and she has been spotted holding hands and hanging out with Rapper Heavy D. Heavy D is no longer heavy. He recently lost 150 pounds, and he goes by the name, Hev-D. Halle is on a baby quest. Will she turn to a sperm bank for help, or will Hev-D help her out? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Will this change people's image of him? Kenny Lattimore and his lovely wife Chante Moore are featured in the latest edition of Jet magazine. Dionne Warwick does the forward for the book, and it also features interviews with Ashford & Simpson, Patti Labelle, Mary Wilson and Jerry Butler. Get ready for the hip-hop version of "The Apprentice." Record Mogul Damon Dash will play the role of Donald Trump looking for a young apprentice to work for his new record company. She beat her with a Blackberry, and slapped her across the face. What's wrong with Naomi? Why must she attack her assistants? She has been mistreating her employees for years. The young woman in Brazil says Naomi beat her up for no reason, and she can't wait to return to the states so she can quit her job. One day, the tables are going to turn on Naomi, and she is going to run into the assistant who is going to kick her behind. Reps for Naomi say the assistant is lying. |

Why am I not surprised that Oprah and her "steady man" Steadman split? Steadman always struck me as, err, BGA before BGA existed. :p |
Amerie Shoots Down Goody-Goody Image, Says 'I'm Not A Prude'
OK people, let's get it straight. It's "Na, na, na, na, na, oh," not "Gobble gobble gobble" or "Not another mouthful." Amerie is getting a lot of props from her fans for her hit record "1 Thing," and mixed in with some of the accolades are questions that make her chuckle. "I didn't think it would be such a big deal, but people are always asking, 'What are you saying at the beginning?' " she said with a laugh one day recently in New York. "I thought 'Gobble gobble gobble' was bad, but 'Not another mouthful' is funny. It's so funny to me because it's so easy to understand." While some people may be unable to decipher her words, there's no misunderstanding her emotions on the track: Some fella has put stars in her eyes. "It's pretty much about that one thing that someone can do that basically makes you whipped. "This album I wanted to revisit go-go and have go-go references on the album," she added, referring to the percussion-driven '80s style that infuses the Rich Harrison-produced dance track. "I wanted to do it at least one time. I have two records that have that live-band feel [on the new album]." Amerie said she's opening up a bit more on her new LP, Touch, which comes out on April 26. She co-wrote every song on the album; Rich Harrison produced half of the songs and Lil Jon, Bink, Dre and Vidal and Red Spyda are among the other producers. "Lil Jon did the beat for 'Touch' and I co-wrote it with Sean Garrett," she said. "I wanted to look at where I was as a female and as an artist. I thought of what people said their perception of me was on my last album. That's why the hook says, 'Don't be afraid to touch/ I know you think I'm a good girl.' I think I have — or I had — that image of being a goody-goody." Amerie says she is a good girl, but only some of the time (see "Amerie Growing Up But Keeping Her Clothes On, Thank You"). "Don't be afraid to go there with me," she said. "I'm not a prude. Be respectful, but I am human. I wanted to give more of myself on this album. Last album it wasn't so much about people not getting me, but it was me only giving but so much." Amerie can only take so much on "Man Up." On the song, her beau isn't pulling his weight and she is reading him the riot act. " 'Man Up' is about being with a guy who really can't take care of himself," she said. "I've always been an independent female. I was raised that way to make sure that when you get with someone else, it's great that you help them, they help you, but at the end of the day, they know you are independent and you can take care of yourself. You're not stuck in the relationship because you don't have any independence — you can walk away and you'll be OK. That's kinda the way my parents raised me and my sister. As an independent female, you need to be with somebody that's independent too." If Amerie didn't drive the point home enough for the guy, maybe he'll understand when a real man talks to him: She gets a little assistance on the record from Nas. You might remember that Amerie appeared on Nas' God's Son LP and also lent her vocals to "Rest of My Life" from his Street's Disciple album. "He was in the same studio when I was recording ['Man Up'] and I went by his session like, 'Hey, is it cool if you get on this?' He got on there with a big-brother vibe." If you listen to the mixtapes, you've probably heard a million remixes of "1 Thing" with everybody from Jay-Z to B.G. to Peedi Crakk. Amerie says that she is a fan of all of those remixes but none of them were official. The authentic remix is with Eve and the video for their collabo should be hitting any day now. — Shaheem Reid, with reporting by Bridget Bland Explains why she's nekkid all the time I guess. |
