I can't believe it!!

I guess it is like some of those media people were saying,
Not Guilty by reason of Celebrity .

But then again, some poeple said that the "not guilty" verdict didn't mean that he was innocent, it just meant there wasn't enough evidence to convict him. Either way, he should have fried!!

Jackson won because, like O.J., his lawyers put together a better case. I certainly believe O.J. had a hand in Nicole's death, and like Dani I believe that Jackson has molested children (although not necessarily this particular one) -- but I have no proof that they were guilty, and nobody else had enough proof to convict either. And thank god our courts don't convict on what I believe but have no proof of, or what you believe but have no proof of. I'd hate to be on trial in a country where the justice system worked like that.

Did any of you who are sooo surprised at this verdict actually stay up-to-date on this trial? Because it seemed pretty clear to me throughout the entire trial that he was going to walk. The case against him just wasn't strong enough.

ETA: I also think the "Money/celebrity guarantees innocence" accusations are interesting in light of the fact that most child abuse cases NEVER come to court -- it was actually Jackson's celebrity that got him in this mess in the first place. If he had just been some random schmo off the street, I doubt these accusations would have ever come to light.

You're quite right... the prosecution did not present a substantial case to the jury determining Michael's guilt on any of the charges. The defense presented a better case.

Having served on a criminal trial jury in California some years ago (and foreman as well), whatever the evidence presented in the trial, as well as the instructions to the jury, sets the stage for deliberations. In the case I was on, the defendant was found guilty of possessing a controlled substance (steroids), not guilty of resisting arrest, and the jury was hung on the making a terroristic threat charge. Don't know what the sentence was, but he was a prison guard at Folsom; guess he's not doing that anymore.

X days of testimony with X number of witnesses = 24 hours of actual jury delibration. Who's kidding who?

cashmoney 06-13-2005 07:24 PM

I wish I could have registered jesusjuice.com as soon as I heard that but someone had beat me to it.

Seriously, I would have had the best time selling jesus juice in every liquor store across America with Michael's face on it ($0.50 of each can would go towards his legal bills).

Did you hear that the date on the jurors' form was Friday (10 June)? Makes you wonder why they waited until today.

From what all the talking heads and the jurors are saying, the kid's mother lost this case. Somebody needs to have a serious conversation with her!

Now wait a minute, aren't they teaching you kids in law school about the difference between "totally innocent" and not guilty any more?

Dude, Jackson's got some weird fans:

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ichael_jackson

"Fans outside the courthouse jumped up and down, thrust their fists in the air, hugged each other and threw confetti. A woman in the crowd released one white dove as each acquittal was announced. News of the verdict was broadcast worldwide, triggering jubilation among Jackson's fans across the globe."

I'm not sure how somebody can get so wrapped up in the trial verdict of someone they don't even know, but then again, I'm not sure how people can still think so favorably of Jackson after all the things he's pulled.

Other thoughts: somebody suggested that he would go to Europe now, where the court of public opinion is a little more favorable towards him. I doubt it. That's what a rational person would do. Michael? Not so much.

kddani 06-14-2005 07:09 AM

yeah, when the mentioned the dove thing, I laughed.

Many of those people have been spending every day out there since February. I think they might need their heads checked as much as he does.

That's one of the things that saddens me the most about this. Had he been found guilty on any of the verdicts, I'd bet that he would've spent some amount of time in a psychiatric treatment facility. Regardless of whether or not he does molest children, he is in need of mental help. But now that he's been aquitted, he has no reason to get help and no incentive.

I don't know if it was mentioned in this thread or the other or both, but you're right about what mother lets their kids go there. But that's not the kids fault, they shouldn't have to go through some of this shit because their parent is a nutcase

ShaedyKD 06-14-2005 07:21 AM

Taking bets on when his next album will drop. I know I'll be standing in line at Best Buy to get it.

P.S. J/K about the standing in line part. I do want to take bets though.
