I'd settle for a water heater that worked at this point. The poor girls in the house found out that the water heater was not only shot to hell, but it was spewing gas into the house.

Yikes, Phoenix! Did someone call the plumber and/or the gas company? We had a water heater failure earlier this year and it was NOT pretty. </hijack> |
Well, the situation is complicated... the house is owned by Otterbein, and as long as we are in good standing (which we are) the house is ours. We pay rent to them. Very few ofthe houses on our campus are owned by the organization/ alumns...I think only 3 or 4 are. So as our landlords, they send the service dept. to fix whatever needs to be fixed. But! OC only has 1 plumber, which creates a problem, especially in winter. The girls had to shower in the dorms for a few days. I believe it got fixed over break because everyone went home. The plumbing in that house overall is just not good...the toilets and sinks and the bathtub all spewed black stuff a few weeks ago and the plumber had to come and work his voodoo on it...we're considering sacrificing a virgin to rid our house of plumbing problems.

Land Lords normaly have responsibily for major repairs, not the tenents.
These sound like Land Lord repairs unless written in the Lease Hold Contract. Is there a local Code Department in your town? Dangerous situations exist and must be corrected for safety of lives. |

I don't know about Westerville, but I know Columbus has plenty of resources available for tenants. Franklin County also has quite a bit of info available. If Otterbein has a Student Legal Service or if any of the current members have attorney contacts it may be a useful resource. Same goes if any alumnae are in the legal field. Good luck Phoenix! If you need any help feel free to PM me. |

The DGs at Texas also have a beautiful pool:
