Thank you, Honey!! I signed up tonight!!

nauadpi 03-16-2005 01:33 AM

Ok.. so I realize this is entirely random, but tonight as in while I was reading the other posts, it dawned on me I might have somewhere free to stay down there... I find this really funny that I just realized it... But my parents are looking at renting a place there, because my Dad is there all week... So I should be able to stay there... It amazes me that this didn't dawn on me earlier...

I just wanted to inform people that there has been some more info posted about convention on the adpi website... It has some of the first events that will be going on and a deadline for registering for convention... At this time I have yet to see the actual registration material though...

Okay, those of us who are thinking of going to the Convention, did you listen to me and sign up for the Starwood Points Program?

Today, I received an email from them, and they're offering extra Starwood Points for the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa!

"Stockpile your Starpoints® at some of our most beautiful Arizona hotels & resorts! Simply stay at any of our participating locations between March 15 and September 5, 2005 and earn up to 25,000 Starpoints:

• Stay 1 night and earn 1000 bonus Starpoints
• Stay 2 nights and earn 2500 bonus Starpoints
• Stay 3 or more nights and earn 5000 bonus Starpoints"

What are the chances?! If you haven't signed up yet, sign up NOW!!

Starwood Points Plan

Heres the only thing with that though, I think since your hotel is payed for when you register, you might not be able to get the points. Not sure about that but just a thought.

Registration forms have been posted!!

I was not planning to go...and thank goodness I wasn't....there is no way I could afford it at this time! Maybe in 2 years I can be the advisor representing Gamma Theta and not have to pay!!

Thats the way to do it ;), if I wasnt advising ZA then I wouldnt be going and there would be no way I could/would spend that much on it.

I know some of y'all might not have adobe downloaded to your computers and right now that is the program one needs to look at the information regarding convention, but here is the information about "recommended dress"

Opening banquet: (6/22) Semi-Formal

Formal opening: (6/23) White (head to toe). Dress or suit. NO pants or flip flops.

Business meetings, workshops, meals (lunches & dinner on 6/24): Business casual consisting of dresses/skirts/nice slacks.

Diamond Awards Banquet: (6/25): Formal attire

Now I'm going to quote ADPi here:

"Remember conduct and dress of all Alpha Delta Pi attendees will be observed by other guests in the hotel. T-shirts, cutoffs, jeans are not allowed at official convention sessions".

There is some information about traditions at convention but please email or PM me if you would like to know those.

There is also a "preliminary" schedule on the net. There is actually ALOT of stuff for alums to do, not so much for collegians though (it seems like).

Oh yeah, lunch on the 6/24, IMPO I would say don't buy it if you are doing part time registration. I say that because it is a boxed lunch because it's "free time" at the resort. Save yourself 40 bucks and we'll go get lunch at McDonalds ;)

Is it just me, or does the registration packet not include the actual registration forms? Are they somewhere else on the site and I am just missing them?

Hey at least I now know it wasn't just me. ;) I figure I'll just ask my alumnae president if she has them on Wednesday when I see her. I can't even send in the money now anyways, I'll be waiting until right before the deadline.

They are there....they are a link of their own!! :)

Yeah, I found them this morning... They were added then...

I have at least eight people asking me which bank I plan to knock off to afford to go to even part of the Convention, then to an important wedding/DC the next weekend. I keep telling them that robbing a bank would be a felony, and if I'm caught, I'd rather it be with a misdemeanor, but...

;)

For alumnae attending Convention
- what day/time are you arriving?
- will you attend the Pre-Convention Volunteer training?
- will you attend the dinner honoring IO's?
- will you attend the Alumnae reception?

I haven't booked anything yet, but would like to attend the Alumnae Reception. Haven't read anything about the Training, so not sure about that. I won't get there in time for the IO dinner. :(

Well I live in Phoenix, so already here ;)

I would like to attend the Pre-Convention Volunteer training.

I'm not sure about the dinner honoring the IO's quite yet.

Alumanae Reception, probably will attend because I think that is a chance for the alums to meet GC and I'd really like to do that.

A sister, who has kind of taken me under her wing :) (which I adore her for!!!!!) is gonna call me next weekend and we are going to go over the "proposed itinerary" (spelling issues) and let me know what I should go to and what I should just avoid. Oh but she did have a recommendation for me that I will pass along, she said to WATCH the processional and not "participate" in it. She said it is beautiful and I think she said "moving" too, either way she said to watch it because you miss half of it if your "in it". So I'll still wear my white but I'll watch it. Oh she also said the Old Timers Dinner was awesome.

She basically was saying go to opening banquet (which I was planning too because we (phoenix alum) are planning it), the old timers dinner, the processional and the closing banquet.

Mainly, for myself, she's letting me know what other things I should do.

The way I look at it, any more experience I can gain within the sorority is going to help me not hinder me.

I'm sooooooo excited!!!!!! Is it June yet!!!!!!!!

nauadpi 03-23-2005 01:54 AM

So far it looks like I will start on Wednesday (I really can't afford to Pre-Convention Volunteer training on top of everything else)... So I am planning on starting with the Alumnae Reception... Then my main plan for the week is to go to all the dinners (I am still not sure about the Philanthropy dinner)... I am planning on not going to any of the lunches... And other then that, that is about it... My logic for avoiding the lunches, is that I can save a bit of money that way since I am a bit straped for the money to do this (but I am sure I will get there)...
