WOW!

It's incredible to hear first hand the impact that Pastor Warren is having on the country and the world!

It's incredible!

I do feel very blessed to be a part of something like that...

He's become a very known man - and yes, he is very wise...

My family and I have attended Saddleback Church since it's humble beginnings in my very own high school gym (Trabuco Hills) on Sundays...

We later raised enough money to get some land and "the tent" - which was literally an enourmous tent with lighting and sound systems inside...

Eventually, it developed into a beautiful campus as it is today, with brand new facilities and all...

Quite interesting how it grew... Pastor Warren and our other wonderful pastors touched so many people here in Orange County...
It's quite wealthy here in South Orange County - the people were touched and donated INSANE amounts to the projects that expanded the church...

Our services are like life guide sessions rather than your traditional "fire and brim stone" sermons...

It's like sitting in a college class on life guided by God.. :D

Amazing to see it build...

It was equally amazing to see Pastor Rick become internationally known and such a big influence!

Glad to hear you guys can share his knowledge with you!

I wear my pin on my blazer/sports jacket...keep it professional

I have and I will wear an elephant pendant, dressy symbols; and there have been occasions where Sorors wear crimson suits and more blatant representations of the Sorority.

I'm not a regular church goer, but i have gone with my chapter on designated Greek days, where all greeks will wear some type of para. Im on the conservative side with letters over all, so aside from a bag or pin (or a chapter blazer), I'd probably just wear colors.

I feel awkward not dressing up for church. It's probably b/c for 95% of my life I have been going to churches where everyone judges you if you don't look like you're having the President over for dinner that night.

So, I wouldn't wear my letters to church service. I always wear my badge, though.

I haven't been to church since ...um....2008? :o
since we dress up I wouldn't wear more than a pin and/or colors. plus i don't wanna deal with all the questions my para would attract by people that aren't familiar with greek life.

When I was active we got points for badge dressing off of campus, church included. So sometimes I'd wear my badge for the points.

I am so jealous of your crest guard, I wish I had Armorial Bearings as a guard because I don't get to wear them that often (never, since I have no jewelry of the Armorial Bearings!). The Balanced Man cuff links looked nice in person, you could always sport those.

To me it has always been important to dispel myths about sorority girls (and people with purple hair LOL - notably I have a super conservative mom cut now but hey). What better way to let a segment of the population know that there are nice conservative non party girls in sororities than wearing letters to church?

Yes you may get looks, but if you do, it is an opportunity to educate them about what Greek Life is about.

Back when I was in school years ago, we actually had a group called Greek Life - it was like CCF or CCC but for Greeks. Also, my sorority had a subgroup of girls who did bible study.

As for formality of dress, it will vary considerably from denomination to denomination to geographic area, etc. I currently attend a church that is very popular with university students and thus it has a very casual evening worship service. If I attended a different church with more formal dress, it is highly likely that I'd dress to match the population too ;)

My hometown church has two different kinds of services...the traditional (dress up) and contemporary (dress down). I've never seen anyone wear jeans, except for small children, but that's probably because of the area I grew up in. But that way everyone is happy. (I enjoy dressing up so when I do go to church I don't mind. My grad classes are studio art classes for the most part and I never get to wear nice clothes.)

Yeah I would. My church especially in the youth and college group is very come as you are. ALthough Im not sure I'd wear a letter T to Sunday morning service, only because I do normally wear jeans but a tshirt in general maybe a little to casual for me but hey personal opinion. HOwever on a Wednesday night or Sunday night it really doesnt matter at all, even the older members are in jeans and tshirts...its part of me why not show it off proudly. Plus there are other Greek alums at my church so Id have no problem sporting my letters. :)

NinjaPoodle 12-15-2009 04:04 AM

If I attended church (I haven't been in over 15 years) I would keep it simple, either a necklace , my jeweled poodle, or a shield pin. NEVER our badge. My former church is United Methodist and dress is "church formal" so to speak. It's not a rule but if women wear pants to service, it's frowned upon.

Oh and letters? Unless it's the church picnic or something of the sort, never.

Still BLUTANG 12-15-2009 03:47 PM

some sundays i attend evening service, which is heavily attended by the local college students. even then, the most i see is a line jacket or the leather bomber / letterman style fraternity or sorority coats.

although the dress at this service is VERY casual, i think i've only seen a letter shirt once or twice at service, Bible study, etc.

sceniczip 12-15-2009 05:30 PM

I don't really go to church anymore except on holidays, which is dressier. However, when I used to go it was pretty casual. I always wore jeans and a hoodie or tshirt so I'd have no problems wearing letters. If it was a nice service I'd still wear my badge.
