Interesting. We should also be very weary of false prophets. Be careful not to lead your herd of sheep off a cliff, "minister." |

I prayed and WAITED! Notice, I typed WAITED in caps. It has taken me a number of years to get to where I am now. Be sure this is what God wants you to do, and that this is what you are to be doing at this time in your life. I am heavily involved in music ministry, and I will soon prayerfully, be in training to be licensed to preach (PRAY FOR ME Y'ALL). There have been times where Zeta and Ministry have conflicted heavily. But when I got saved, I declared that I would follow God. When these conflicts arise, I pray. Then I do what thus sayeth The Lord. |
Amen!
You can say that again! And you also need to check your reasons for trying to join said org in the first place! If it is for selfish gain I dont care what it is God is not going to be pleased.:)

All I am going to say is, unless you are a member of ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY, INCORPORATED, you have absolutely no right and you are in no position to speak on our prayers, pledges, songs, etc. To me, that is rather disrespectful. I would not even dare to tell you about your org's practices and how "unholy" they are. Why? Because I am a ZETA. I'm not supposed to know about the inner workings of AKA's, Delta's, Sigma Gamma Rho's, Alpha's, Kappa's, Omega's, Iota's or any other sorority or fraternity out there. I'm sure members of other organizations that have posted on this topic would agree with me on that. If God has told you to denounce whatever org you belonged to, then that's between you and God and I am happy that you were obedient to Him. However, it is not appropriate for you to try and get everyone to do what you did. You have no clue how God is dealing with them. If you truly are concerned, you would pray for them. Pray that God's Will be done in their lives. Not shoot them down because they are saved and are active members of their respective organizations. To sum this up, being greek and being saved shouldn't even be the major topic. There is something much greater in this world that we need to be concerned with. SALVATION of non-believers. Does it matter if a saved woman who happens to also be a Zeta talks to a person and prays the prayer of salvation with them? Or does it matter if a preacher who happens to be an Omega (love ya preachdawg! :D) delivers the message that floods the altar with people who are repenting of their sins? When it all gets down to it, it's all about GOD and GOD alone. |

I understand your desire to spread the word of God and reach out to others as a good Christian but if you can't understand that not everyone is called in the same way then you should respectfully understand that as well. If you can't then I think it says more about you than it does than those who have told you where they stood and just ask that you respect that. I have been wonderfully blessed and nothing I have achieved could have been accomplished without the grace of God. I'm okay where I am as I'm sure others on this board are as well. It seems as you are okay where you are as well but do not assume things about what God has intended for everyone just because He told you that your path lie elsewhere. And please don't PM me about this because there's nothing you can say that will alter what I have already stated. |
First time reading this thread. Interesting, to say the least. Personally, AKA has not altered or negatively changed my walk with the Lord in any way, shape or form. I will openly admit that I had a crisis of faith (manifestation of depression and the events in my life that led to the depression) a couple of years ago, but one of the things that helped bring me back into the fold were my sorors, through the offering of scriptures and prayers. But, if you are letting anything get between you and God, then you have to do whatever you have to do to remove that negative element from your life.
An aside: The GC Men of Omega received a "shout out" of sorts on someone's website. Hmmm. |
Icon/Fred.
What is your primary reason for wanting to expose GLO's? |

Before pledging AKA, I thought I'd have a problem with taking vows toward Alpha Kappa Alpha because of what the Bible says about "being better not to vow at all rather than to vow a vow and break it" (btb paraphrase). But since being in the Sorority, I believe that I've not compromised the word of God. And just because we did take oaths to uphold the whatevers of our various organizations, how often do we do the same in our everyday lives? It may not seem like it's on the same level, but when we were hired on our jobs and we basically signed a 'contract', did we not essentially take a vow that we would do our job to the best of our ability? Can you say honestly that you've done that every single day that you've been at work? I can't - because if I did, I wouldn't be on GC every day! ;) My pastor said that in his office of a Bishop (COGIC) he had to swear to uphold the beliefs, rules/regs of the Church. We essentially are making oaths when we take the "right hand of fellowship" when we join a church. But I'm sure that all of this is about more than taking oaths, or is it? Anyway, although I know I need to step up my game between me and my Daddy, He hasn't told me to denounce Alpha Kappa Alpha, nor do I feel "led" to do so. |
Iconoclastic,
First let me say that when I see a brother that has a zeal for repping the almighty one..I am impressed. Second, when you are that way, expect to be rejected and/or criticized. I know you know this by now, but people are going to do what they want...and make the Bible fit their own agendas. The dilemma of serving God (i mean really serving him) and being in a fraternity/sorority is a valid one..but brother u gots to know you aint gonna get no love on this topic in this forum. Just like if u have a friend that is fornicating or shacking up...you know they're living in sin..but its a way to get your point across without isolating them. You've done your part by putting it out there, and for those that reject your advice..they will ultimately have to answer to the almighty one..if there is indeed anything to answer for. Sometimes people interpret the Bible based on what they want in their own lives...and if they're a die hard member of a BGLO..best believe they will start coming up with all types of new twists and spins on the scriptures to fit what they want to do...just as people that blatantly sin..and claim they love the Lord. Bottom Line..you've made your point very clear...but now I think you're pissing people off LOL.. But at least no one that has read this forum will ever be able to say they didnt know. This thread has indeed been enlightening. And PM away if u want...I aint skurred ;) |
Bible answers
Seeing that we all claim to be educated my request for all who respond to Iconoclast is give a biblical answer for your stance. Don't give a bunch of christian jargon, or philosophical answer. If you are nto a christian then those answer are understandable, but if you have been saved by the blood of Jesus the Christ then give some Bible for your answers. 1 Peter 3:15 challenges us to seperate [sanctify] God in our hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone for the reason [hope] that is in you. Don't attack the messenger with open ended words and shallow statements which ahve no biblical substance but instead give sound answers from scholarly research and study. 2 Tim 2:15. Please evryone who answered don't take this as a personal attack, just look at it as a challenge to refute what has been written with real bible answers. Some of you have answered with statemnets of whimsical mysticism, and not solid truth, of which can not be refuted. And I have to ultimetly agree with the young lady, and that is all who claim to be christians we have a biblical charge that goes beyond any org we apart of and that is to go and preach the gospel! Gospel simply means the good news about Jesus. if you are a christian do people say you are a XYZ who happens to be a christian, or do they say you are a christian who happens to be XYZ. Could you let go of anything to have Jesus, would you let go of anything to have Jesus? can you truly say that you have been a God chaser with the same passion, enthusiam, moxy, perserverance, and even dogmatic tenacity, that you pursued XYZ. Just a challenge! This ahs been That Preacha, and in the words of my Pastor just wanted to put somehting on the clothesline of your mind, now let the Holy Spirit blow on it!

No Fred, I'm not going anywhere else to read.
You post here. Explain here. Aren't you preaching to people who have already crossed by coming in here? This isn't consistent with your answer. Let me rephrase. What is your purpose in coming to a Greek oriented website? |

I am a christian/religious man and very proud member of two fraternities-the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc. I can honestly say that being a member of Omega can be hard at times but there are few thing that are easy in life. I have and always will continue to rock my letters that I have earned regardless of good or bad bruhs. It all comes down to (for me) who you are as a man and as a child of GOD. If you are confident in who you are as a person and you know that god is most important in your life, you don't have to worry about the bruhs or anyone else. "KINGS KIDS" don't have to worry. My fratenity is one that has an appreciation and the highest respect for the word of GOD. You definitely won't regret joining as a man of GOD.
