For us its always either Nati Light or keystone light aka the stones.

And if some guys get a keg its usually nati or blatz

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was an undergrad (well... I'm not THAT old! :) ) fraternity parties at OU were mostly open to anyone, members or not, and the popularity of parties was gauged by the number of kegs bought for the party. A small mixer between fraternities and sororities was maybe a 1 or 2-kegger, a members-only (and their invited guests) party ranged anywhere from 3-6 kegs, and for wide open parties the minimum considered was at least 8 kegs; some really big parties like Sigma Chi Derby Days the beer distributor parked a truck and tapped them on the spot!

Our house wasn't awash with cash, so our usual was cheap kegs of whatever was available. Budweiser, Coors, the usual swill.

The SAE's at Cal Poly favor Coors Light but they also like Sam Adams, Heineken, and a brew that one of the brothers ditributes, Hansa. But it mostly, almost 100% of the time Coors Light for their caps games. Gotta love my true gentlemen!

When i'm back home in Philly i go for Ying-Ling and Coors, but down in Texas it's Bud Light. These fraternities got most of us use to that choice. I would prefer Shiner Bock, and Dos Equis though:D .

I personally love a Corona with a lime. Oh its almost heaven...

Same here. Nothing is more relaxing than just sitting back with a corona with a lime. lol...
like others have said, the fraternity guys i know seem very partial to keystone just because its cheap. They seem to reserve Budweiser or Coors for special nights...
Also, Heiniken (sp?) is the grossest beer Ive ever tasted. I think I spit it out the first time I tasted it,lol.

RUASTgrrl 09-08-2004 06:17 PM

I had enough Natty Light and Keystone to last me a lifetime, and now that I'm out of school, I won't touch the stuff. Shiner or St. Arnolds.

So glad to see that no one has mentioned the twin champs of crappy fraternity party keg beer: Schafer and Blatz. Those weren't the days.

Although I really miss White Mountain Coolers.

kid0034 09-08-2004 10:06 PM

The beer would always change as the party progressed. We'd put the Coors or something out first out first and by midnight the Milwaukee's Best would always manage to appear....

trojangal 09-08-2004 10:28 PM

the fraternity of the guy I dated was always Bud or Coors..or when funds were low..the "Beast" always showed up..

qteasied 11-04-2004 12:47 PM

My school's fraternities like that Keystone crap, esp. for Beer Pong. It's cheap and they buy like thousands--literally. Maybe kegs would be a better solution to all the beer cans that litter our lawn every weekend here. But when they have money, it's Coors. I've haven't see Bud or Heine here. Only individual guys who have bottles get those once in awhile.

And yet we are still for some reason shocked when people die of alcohol poisoning in fraternity houses.
