THIS JUST IN:

Tim Reid (the elder, from Sister, Sister and WKRP and Frank's Place) is NOW an Alpha.

Really? His FB page? For some reason I thought this happened a while ago.

Many people thought so because of erroneous wikipedia listings, erroneous chapter listings, and that his character on Sister, Sister was an Alpha. And that his son's name is Tim Reid as well.

I thought he's been an Alpha?

I remember an episode of Sister, Sister where he had the shirt on.

Wow, so he was faking Alpha on the show.

Crazy.

People are aware that Sister, Sister was not a reality show, right?

Yes but not every organization is open to having their symbols worn by nonmembers even if for a tv character. Having the symbols displayed or having the organization referenced is different than having them worn.

:) Congrats to Tim Reid. Finally. :)

Alpha definitely isn't open to that, but people will try anyway. This reminds of something I heard about extras on Different World.

I think that since A Different World and Sister, Sister were out before we became Alphas, it may be a little hasty to speak on what the fraternity consented to when it came to the character being allowed to wear letters on the show.

To add to this, my cousin's wife does Greek apparel, and best believe those licensing fees ain't no joke...and it cost a lot too. LOL (In other words it ain't just money involved a lot of politicking and if an org just doesn't like you, best believe they will put you through the ringer.)

True and maybe its better to say it this way: I couldn't see the fraternity openly consenting to non members wearing letters. Whether they were diligent in making sure that didn't happen on T.V. or in other media is another story...
