-your GLO Alpha Chi Omega -how long you've been a member I was initiated in 1989. -how active an alum you've been I am currently President of our local alumnae chapter in the city I currently reside. I've been an advisor off and on to the sponsoring collegiate chapter for the last 10 years. -why you come to GC I just found this board...seems like a great resource! -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active I didn't have a great collegiate experience. My chapter closed before I graduated. I knew there was more to the sorority bond than what I experienced in school. As an alum, I've met some of my closest friends and now understand what it's all about. Thanks for the poll!!! :) |
My GLO: Alpha Phi
Joined: Fall 2000. Initiated 11/4/00. Alumna as of April 29, 2004. How active I've been as an alumna: Well, since it's only been a few months, I haven't been able to do a whole lot, but I have helped my chapter out with Recruitment this semester, and we're supposed to be re-starting the Space Coast alumnae chapter. I'm very excited about this and I'm willing to help out as an exec member if they need me. Why I come to GC: I'm a message board addict, but I also love being Greek in general. I think GC has increased my respect of other organizations. What I still enjoy about my GLO (why I'm still active): Upon hearing our Ritual for the first time, I realized how many of the things we talked about were close to my own heart. I like to say that I turn to God to make me a better person, and I turn to Alpha Phi to make me a better woman. The friendships I formed in 4 years of Alpha Phi will last me a lifetime, and I know I'll make many more along the way! |
My GLO - Delta Delta Delta, Alpha Alpha Chapter
How long you've been a member - 5 1/2 years, I was initiated 4/25/99, I know how long I've been in Tri Delt because I accepted my bid the same day my Goddaughter was born. How active an alum you've been - Very active, I try to attend as many events as I can (yesterday was Founders Day!) I am the collegiate/alumni realtions chair for my AC and the alumni advisor for Alpha Alpha. I am also a Life Loyal. I'd love to be a national advisor someday. Why you come to GC - I heard about it on LiveJournal What you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active - Just being with my sisters and meeting new people |
-your GLO: Alpha Delta Pi

And feel that being a part of adpi is something I could never give up... It is a part of me... |
Initiated into the Zeta Eta chapter of Alpha Delta Pi in May 6, 2002; graduated in December 2003
I'm a member of the Tennessee Valley Alumni Association of ADPi, and currently serve as the Vice President of Membership. Although I live 2 hours away from my chapter, I still find time to help out with donations and teaching workshops with Zeta Eta. I honestly can't remember how I found GC in the firstplace, but now, I'm loving meeting more ADPi's from around the country, as well as other GLO members too. I love the discussions/information that is available here...... So many different, valid opinions----it's very educational! Alpha Delta Pi is my home. It's where everybody knows me, and loves me. It's a place that I can give back, yet receive just as easily. It's where I've found my closest friends. It's where I'm challenged, where I can be creative, and so many other things. Alpha Delta Pi is how "We Live for Each Other". |
GLO: Guess! :p
How long I've been a member: Pledged February 1995, initiated April 1995, so - nearly ten years. How active an alum I've been: Honestly, not very. I keep meaning to get more involved, and I keep not doing it... Why GC: I tripped over GC randomly while surfing the net a few years ago, and was soon hooked. I've learned so much about other orgs, especially those that aren't represented at my alma mater. Plus I'm a rush thread addict :) What I enjoy about my GLO: Most of my sisters are great people. I love the ritual and what AEPhi stands for. |
Alum poll
I'm a sister of Theta Phi Alpha, pledged Fall 1982, initiated January 1983 into Kappa Chapter at University of Pittsburgh. I'm currently on the national Chapter Development team and working on the History Project for our national centennial in 2012. I'm a member of our Northern New Jersey Alumni Association.
In my collegian days, I was also a Pi Lambda Phi Little Sister, a Pi Lam sweetheart (at Pitt), and a Beta Theta Pi sweetheart (at Penn). I just recently found out about GC through a couple of my sisters! I checked it out and it seemed pretty cool, so I signed up. I like being involved in my GLO. I like meeting sisters from all eras. Even though we may be from different years and different chapters, there's a bond that transcends everything. I hope that when my sons go to college, they will look into the Greek life and find an organization that supports their values and interests, just like I did when I found Theta Phi Alpha. When I pledged, I learned that being a sister was "Not four years, but a lifetime." That's important to me. I truly believe that all Theta Phis - past, present, and future - are my sisters in every way, shape and form. |

-your GLO: Lambda Chi Alpha
-how long you've been a member: initiated on 3/22/74 (Lambda Chi's Founders Day, the Illinois State chapter's 5th anniversary) -how active an alum you've been: semi-active after 1977 graduation (my ex wasn't big on the Greek thing), very active since 1994 (member of alumni boards @ alma mater & Northwestern, alumni advisor to VP's & Alumni Secretary, working w/LCA's Alumni Development Committee) -why you come to GC: to learn other people's perspectives. NIC, NPC, NPHC, NALFO, it doesn't matter...we're all brothers & sisters together. -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active: It was the first place I was truly accepted for being myself. It was also a place I could be part of a team, which was something I was used to since I'd been involved w/interscholastic athletics from junior high through HS. Now I can offer insights to the UG's because of that "real world experience" thing... -anything else you care to share: "Living the Ritual" is spoken of a lot, but it's tough to do. In addition, GDI's can make fun of us, call us sheep, etc.--however, working on committees or holding an office is excellent preparation for post-grad life. Whether it's Church Council, your village board or the PTO, knowing the Robert's Rules definitely help. |
Your GLO
Alpha Gamma Delta How long you've been a member Initiated Spring 2000 Graduated Spring 2003 How active an alum you've been After attending my first Convention as a collegian in 2001, I made sure I stayed involved as much as I could after I went through Senior Rededication. Since going alum, I've served as Editor of the newsletter for the Hawaii Alumnae Chapter, Campus Relations Advisor for the Delta Sigma collegians; volunteered my services for many a recruitment event, and have been to every Initiation, Feast of Roses, and International Reunion Day. Why you come to GC I found this board a few months after I was initiated into my chapter. I've met tons of my sisters IRL, not to mention members of other organizations through my travels. How could I *NOT* come to GC? What you still enjoy about your GLO? Why are you active? I love it how the sisterhood I felt within my chapter has now expanded into something global. Whenever I'm having a crappy day, I know that there is someone in LA, Boston, Tennessee, or even Canada who will be willing to put up with me! I look at the collegians and I'm proud of them. I know I'd be missing out if I didn't give back to AGD what she's given to me in these past few years. |

GLO Delta Delta Delta
How Long I've Been a Member April 2003 How Active of an Alum I'm trying to be. I joined the local Alumnae Chapter, but I'm having issues with making meetings because I usually have grad school classes Why I came to GC I stummbled onto GC while looking for t-shirt slogans, lurked around for a bit, and then joined. It just seemed like a great community for ideas and sharing thoughts across the county. What I enjoy about my GLO/Why I'm active I truely love the sisterhood that spans everything. I never really realized it until I went to my first alum meeting and it hit me while I was talking to one of my Golden Circle sisters (a sister who been been in the sorority for years). I would have never known her, or any of the other wonderful women from the alum chapter if it wasn't for her. A few of my sisters and I were shopping in Del when we ran into Tri Delts from another chapter, who we had never meet before....but we all ended up having lunch together. Not to mention how much I love going back and seeing the chapter I founded flourish. I think most of all, I secretly am such a NPC Dork that one of these days when I have more time on my hands, I would like to volunteer for my fraternity or the NPC. Actually, I would love to be Tri Delta's delegate to the NPC. Guess, its not so much of a secret anymore!:p |
~GLO~
Sigma Sigma Sigma ~How Long I've Been a Member~ January 2001 (Graduated December 2003) ~How Active of an Alum~ I'm working on becoming a key alumna for Scotland (keeping track of alumnae over here and maybe trying to organise a meet-up day or something). It's more difficult when you're overseas, but I want to try to be as helpful as I can to the national organisation. ~Why on GC~ I found Greekchat soon after I joined and have stayed on as an alum because it's a great way to stay connected to the greek community, especially while I'm across the pond. :D ~What you still enjoy about your GLO? Why still active?~ I love my sisterhood and everything it stands for. High standards of conduct, strong womanly character and perpetual bonds of friendship are great life lessons for any woman. I know Sigma helped me get where I am today - a postgrad at a prestigious university - and I really wanted to help perpetuate the sisterhood for future generations. Yeah, some people may see sororities as old-fashioned, but I think they're actually really forward thinking, helping high-achieving young women grow as leaders, scholars and in their own lives. :) I have this vision of myself as one of the little old alums at convention with blue hair and sensible shoes - I think it's really brilliant to see that kind of dedication in people and I hope I will be able to portray that in my love for my sorority :D ~ShyViolet |
My GLO: Alpha Sigma Tau
Joined: Spring 2001. Initated: 4/8/2001. Alumna as of 5/6/2004. How active I've been as an alumna: Since I graduated in May, I haven't been able to do much. To top it off, I moved to a town with a collegiate chapter who don't want my help. :( The nearest alumnae chapter is in Philadelphia (about 25 minutes away from my home.) They seem to be a little hesitant to allow more recent alumnae join the club. Hopefully, I will be able to become more active. Why I come to GC: I'm addicted to the message boards! What I still enjoy about my GLO (why I'm still active): I enjoy many of the friendships that I made during my time as a collegian. |
