check out the house, they finally have it landscaped. just a few more weeks..
thank God for our amazing Alumni |
Checked the webcam, they still haven't put any letters up viewable!@!!!
|
You have to remember, the camera is on top of barnhill, not gonna be many people looking from there. You can see the letters over the door pretty easily. Most people walking will come in the top (back) door, which also has letters. I'll definitely be asking tho. Moving in on friday! Wish it was sooner, but I'll take what I can get.

Is the house already going to be packed full? or will any of the incoming frosh/pledges get a chance to live in?

Today move in day?

Hey! Sorry we kind of dropped off the face of the earth. We are getting pretty busy with classes and rush (formal recruitment week starts this wednesday and bid day is Sept 16 I believe). The house is great! We'll get some more pictures up as soon as possible.
There still aren't any letters on the front of the house, but there are over the main entrance and over the back entrance- I'm sure that will change in time. We are still getting all the glitches worked out- making sure every room has internet, trying to get all of the showers working properly, etc. Cool features- we have a High Def 102" projector screen in the dining room, we usually watch football games on it (it was great during tailgating for our season opener!), we can also use it during chapter. In the rec room we have a 58" plasma screen mounted on the wall. We are getting a pool table for the room as well. In the library we are starting to put up a bunch of composites/the creed/etc that we just got out of storage from some of our alumni. In the courtyard, around that tree, there are bricks with the names of alumni who gave money to the housing project- including several Alpha Chapter members. Rush parties have been going really well! A lot of people have been over to the house, and the head of UAPD commented on the fact that our house blew the other greek houses away. We are very proud of it. If y'all ever come near Northwest Arkansas feel free to drop by! A lot of alumni have been stopping in, and we are always excited to show hospitality to brothers. More later. If you have any specific questions you can reach me at shhenry@uark.edu LHT |
Can you please post some pics of the inside of the house? The guys at Eta Chi chapter here have been antsy to see if the inside looks as good as the outside! LHT

The dedication isn't until November tenth, so we still have work to do, getting composites up, books on the selves, the actual formal furntiture downstairs, ect. When it's all done I'll throw some pics up. I think that we are going to be published in a few different magazines, I heard even the Delta? You will all get a chance then.

AR & Razr, any updates? Pics of the inside of the house? I see you are still working on getting a website up.

Wow, that is awesome, I can see why fraternity houses are more affordable than ours. Our campus does not allow members to reside in the building where the fraternity business or parties are held. It would be awesome to be in a setup like Sigma Nu at Arkansas.

Your chapter built a very nice house back in the 1950s designed by a famous architect, Edward D. Stone. What happened to it? Is it now occupied by another group?

I've been to that old house many times, it was a BEAST. Built to house men and parties. Almost indestructible!
Anyways, after Gamma Upsilon got the boot I believe the university used it as offices for the Dept. of Chemistry. Then, when AOII was colonized at Arkansas they got the old EN house and totally renovated it. Here’s what it looked like when they were done, and it probably still looks like this as AOII’s new house isn’t finished yet. Front of the house (still had the EN letters in stone at the time): http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...69/oldark1.jpg Dining Room: http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...69/oldark2.jpg Front Room: http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...69/oldark3.jpg Lowered Den (as it was back in the day): http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...69/oldark4.jpg Lowered Den (as it is now): http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...69/oldark5.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...69/oldark6.jpg The big old patio (memories...) There used to be a little fountain/pond thing out there, I believe in the shape of the badge, but they filled it in. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...69/oldark7.jpg |
Banditone - thanks for those pics! I was a Sigma Nu lil' Sis "back in the day" and those pictures really took me back! I can still see the parties - especially Sigma Nu Relays! I was very disappointed that SN spiraled out of control enough to get themselves kicked off campus several years ago, so am thrilled at the new house, new location, new resurgence of SN on the U of A campus! Go Snakes.
