What if we put a filter on this forum.....kinda like a bad word filter, except it limits sentences to nothing more than 80 words???? Decadence would still be muffeled (sic) and the rest of us would have words to spare.
"AXJules" this is one of the main reasons I put you on ignore quite a while ago. Unfortunately I still see your posts when I'm not logged in (browsing as a guest). This is my point. No attacks made toward you, it's gotta be a couple of months since I put you on ignore so we wouldn't butt heads (I don't come here for that) but you still come out of nowhere and make little personal snipes. I could make one now and am itching to but I'm trying to be a lil' mature.

correct me if I'm wrong but I thought John couldn't ban IP addresses, meaning someone on the same computer can keep coming back again and again.
Okay then. You're wrong. Banning IP address is possible, it just has limited usage... if someone has a dialup connection the IP address can change each time and banning a range of IP adresses can block out legitimate people too. Even if the user isn't on dialup there're ways to get round it after being banned by their IP address (which I won't post here).

::shrug:: You post something on a forum people might respond. I did.

Imthechamp: Your humor in the last couple of posts wasn't lost on me but I will still for the record just comment to you that I don't PM people that person A sleeps with person B or any other gossip via PMs nor (as you seem to think and suggested before) do I spend all my time clicking Report post on you (I reported one post period, ages ago when two insults were made by you to me - one I ignored as if I dish it I should take it; the other was reported only since it was bigoted and over-the-line. So far as I recall that's all I've ever reported on you and it was reported cuz of the post itself not who it came from). But I realise you still think I'm Cashmoney (despite John saying otherwise) so I'm not too bothered. :p

Well Kddanni, you've deleted the smiley's in this out of context quote so there's less chance of it being taken in the spirit it was meant, isn't there.

{-B]
This is a case of those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You say a lot of uncalled for things.

What smilies? There was one at the end, the tongue sticking out one, sorry it didn't cut and paste. didn't change the "spirit" of it at all.

You have made many many insults and said many nasty things on here, so stop this innocent BS.

So smilies negate your so-called "insults"?

:) Stop writing posts so damn long that no one can read them and any points that you actually may have get lost because they're hidden among a bunch of superfluous words. Paragraphs and other stylistic aids are a good thing :)

:) Stop getting in everyone's business and acting like you know everything about everything. :)

:)You've talked a lot of isht on people, and anytime anyone says the slightest thing about you you get all up in arms. Don't be such a hypocrite :)

And now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

decadence 10-20-2003 09:15 AM

I don't know where to begin...

Er no Kddanni that is not how the post in the Random thread which you took out of context was, at all. THAT post was obviously tongue in cheek. This is clear by the fact it followed a burst of fury (someone's post) with the comment about midol and a hot water bottle and yes, there was a smiley further indicating it was a tongue in cheek comment. Quite how you managed to decide it was in total seriousness and a direct insult is unknown! I was not actually making a suggestion Rudey has a uterus and requires medication for 'women's troubles'. - Banter. And when Rudey responded about throwing a jab back in my kidneys *I* didn't rush to report anything or call an attorney, I took it in the spirit it was meant.

No idea who the random thread post was called an insult by - except perhaps you, who could not detect it as banter.

"You have made many many insults and said many nasty things on here"
That's not how I think of my posting style, but okay. No doubt you have a library of insults I have made that weren't purely defensive/retaliatory in response to someone else instigating trouble???
Paragraphs are lovely I use them all the time; I do not know what you mean by your last two points if anything so I cannot respond. In total honesty your comments seem - to me - to be a attempt to shoot off a round at me regardless of whether there's any foundation to the comments or not.

Most people here are of undergraduate or graduate level (/beyond) so nope, I don't feel a need to constantly dumb down my posts or reduce them since those people who want to read them do and those who don't have the right to read some other's instead.

alphachiohmy 10-20-2003 10:29 AM

It took me a whole 10 minutes to read this thread. I have no clue what started this, and while it is interesting to read, I just wonder how many people could care less.

Not to be trite or condemning in any way, I just wonder if it is worth all the angst and bickering. This is just a message board.

Best thread on GC right now!

Because it is dramatic? NO. BECAUSE IT IS HONEST. I think this one thread has actually brought up so many things that fly around in PM's/IM's and for some reason people are scared to say out loud.

For people who are lost, I think I can break down exactly what this thread is about (including tangents).

UF Pike has come back under several usernames, and is no less annoying each time. This begs the question...why ban people if they can just come back?

Decadence - you talk too much. And you WHINE a lot too. It is unanimous. I am sorry if this hurts your feelings, but hey, it's TRUE. Deal with it.

AXJules/Imthachamp - seemed to have worked things out on their own, none of my business.

My 2 cents..I have never ignored anyone nor reported anyone on this site. While I am annoyed or even pissed at times by what I read, it is never that serious to me.

thank you for the break down!! i was so confused!

If you like it, you should check out the song MILKSHAKE by Kelis. In fact everyone should because it is the best song ever.

For real.

I don't understand...

Why are people sooooo SCARED to confront people directly on the internet? It's not like you are going to get your azz kicked, lol.

Don't be skurred!!!

mullet81 10-20-2003 11:43 AM

Folks generally avoid confrontation. Many folks on here are not very skilled at overcoming contraversy and making it something positive.

Ya'll have to admit, folks on here have very little patience and acceptance for contrary points of view.

90% of the contraversy on here exists because people adopt a "my way or the highway"mentality.

So what's to gain by confronting folks? Generally speaking.. drama, backstabbing, stupid crap that we should have grown out of in HS.

-----

Every semester as part of our active chapter's membership program, I teach a few leadership classes. My favorite is called "Contraversy with Civility". Now, if I could teach a web course over it, I think many folks on here would stand to benefit.

Maybe if certain individuals would adopt a policy of acknowledging other folk's points, pointing out similarities, looking for collaberative conclusions, etc.. contraversy/confrontation could be productive. As it is, here, too often, it ends in a locked thread.

I am surprised Cream, I wouldn't have expected you to post something that could be interperated as patronizing.
