Really, must we get into this again? It's fine if the culture where you live says that white shoes after Labor Day is a no-go, but just because a woman breaks these rules doesn't mean that her mother didn't "raise her right." If someone's mom raised her right, she wouldn't make assumptions on people's upbringings just because they decided not to follow some petty fashion rule that doesn't even exist in some parts of the country anymore.

But then, I would never wear white shoes with anything other than a wedding dress, my initiation dress or my white junior prom dress, so it's sort of irrelevant to me.

AMEN!!!

I wear whatever is classy, comfortable and appropriate for a given occasion, no matter what time of year it is.

My mother brought me up properly.

So today it was 50 degrees, and I saw a woman wearing these little white capris, and I thought of this thread! There I was freezing and nearly being blown away by the strong winds, and I couldn't believe she was-- first, wearing capris, and second, that they were white.

But yeah, I've seen the "rules" broken numerous times after Labor Day, ie. this past weekend I saw 2 girls (not together) decked out in summer outfits (and it wasn't warm either, it was mid 60s). One girl standing in line in front of me was wearing a white tank top, light blue floral skirt, tan wooden sandals with the chunky heel, and a white Louis Vitton bag. Then another girl was wearing a white tank top and a white skirt with flip flops. You'd think it was a beautiful sunny day the way they were dressed, but it definitely wasn't.

Just thought I'd share....
