Arin
Are you going to be around to help this week and weekend? I am going to try to be there for Saturday and Sunday but I have to figure out who can watch Brayden for me. So I don't want to totally commit myself, but if you talk to anyone let them know that I may be there and I wish them the best luck and can't wait to meet my new TU sisters!!! Erin |
I am planning on being there Friday and Saturday foresure. Since I am in Georgetown I might have a struggle to stay away the first two nights but I don't want to hog all the alumnae spots.
Jacque is going to be there on Wednesday, they are Recruiting out of the house instead of both the chapter room and the house... it should be interesting... I might make a stop over just to see if everything is okay. Then Thursday night they are doing the two room philanthropy, with something about a golf course as the theme... that may just be a stop by also. Friday night is skit, and I missed it last year because of the stupid job I had, so I'm not missing it this year. Saturday night is my favorite night, so it would be most difficult to keep me from campus. I most likely won't go to Chapel day (first one I'll miss) unless I can talk Jeremy into coming back with me. Being the GDI that he is, he thinks all Greek stuff is stupid. Oh well, he is coming around to my way of thinking though! Erin, will you pm me Keri's email address. I don't think that I have the right one. I hope to see you soon. I would say that my grandmother could keep him, but she starts Chemo again today, so I don't know how she will feel by Saturday and Sunday. |
Kudos to Beta Xi (Purdue University) and Beta Delta (Indiana University) for matching quota plus during spring recruitment! Welcome to our new Indiana baby squirrels! :)

Theta Upsilon
TU started recruitment activites on Wednesday with Open House. I wasn't there but from what I understand it went really well. From what the girls are hearing around campus, it was a fabulous night.
Numbers are down this year with only 120 ladies signing up for rush, 7 dropped the first night, then last night the first release was made (more on that later). As of last night we are anticpating quota to be around 26 maybe, last year it was 28, year before 32, and then the year before it 24ish... Georgetown is playing with the idea of quota plus... what are the pros to it? If you are a chapter that has never walked away from bid day with quota, is it bad for you? And if you are the second in size with the top group being "REALLY BIG" and the other two groups fighting with you for second place, can it hurt you? On to last night... Philanthorpy night went great. They had two rooms set up with one looking like a golf course because TU does Tee-up for a Cure every fall and then the second room was set up with animal pictures because the chapter goes to the Humane Society to walk the dogs every month. The ladies decorated plastic clear bags with sharpies and then put dog treats and cat nip into them for new pet owners to take home. Our ladies felt really good and positive about the night, it was really long and they had difficulties with different parts of the night (though mainly only one). This group of ladies is a lot quiter than my group ever was after each party was over. First releases were made last night. The PNM's are really worried about that as ususal, according to the PX's but that is to be expected. The campus has done a much better job at keeping the PX's membership a secret this year than last. Tonight is Sisterhood night, with the ladies preforming Camp Alpha Gamma... unfortunately one other group is apparently performing the same theme... but the ladies are being really positive and our's is soooo cute... anyone ever watch Salute Your Shorts? Camp Alpha Gamma we hold you in our hearts and when we think about you.... we hope to never part! (If you have seen the show, you know how the song really goes!) Well I will try to let you all know how everything goes, though it might be Monday or Tuesday before I return to a CPU. Tomorrow night is Pref and then Sunday is Chapel Day! Keep the chapter in your prays, for us to have only joined campus 4 years ago and to be in second place in size says a whole lot. We would just love to have quota walking out of the chapel on Sunday! Quota plus is not a negative thing. It is used at a lot at campuses that guarantee a PNM a bid if they go to all parties they are invited to and play by all the rules. If done correctly ,it is a positive thing. The PNM is matched to the the smaller group,as long as she is on their bid list, which may or may not be the first choice. This works best, and most fairly,if the CP/GA correctly uses release figures for chapters. This is addressed in the "Green Book"or NPC Manual of Information. It is not to exceed 5% of quota.Quota of 40 gets 2 possible quota additions.
PM me if I can give you any more info. M |
I sure wish that Arin would get on here and post some details about TU's Recruitment. Tonight is Pref and this is the first time that I have not been at it and Bid day. I am getting really anxious because I was in the colony there and I want to make sure that everything goes perfect for them and I want to be there to show my support. Unfortunately, I have lost Arin's cell number and don't know how to get ahold of her. I know that she is going to Pref tonight. Arin if you are out there please call me. I am going to PM you my phone number!!!!

Tell me about it. I am an alum there and I still can't find out. I do know that quota was 27 and SK was the only group that got quota plus (they got 29). I am happy for them but kinda upset about the new quota plus. SK is the biggest on campus. They are a wonderful chapter with great traditions and they always have the best numbers during recruitment, but at gtown they are trying to get all the groups more equally and I don't think that quota plus is the way to go there. Anyway, still hoping ARin posts some results soon!!!

I want to start off by saying how sorry I am that I didn't post over the weekend. After sitting at my computer all week, I am not getting on as much at home... sorry :(
Well Erin had some of it correct... quota was 27, SK and KD got quota plus... which I thought that quota+ was for chapters that weren't at total... which SK is and has been for years. I don't like the quota plus system because we have the one girl that quota plus would have effected last year and if we had had the system last year, she wouldn't have been an AGD! She is also my great-grandsis/dot, so I have double reason to not like it. Unforunately we are the only chapter that voted it down. The girls did an excellent job this year. TU had the best return figures ever with 54 returning for pref night. For largers campuses, this may seem small but we only had 114 girls return for the second night campus wide and only 126 sign up at all. Our skit was the same idea as the SK group, while KD and PM had the same idea, Panhell didn't meet with the groups to discuss skit this year, you can bet that they will next year! But if anyone wants a really cute Camp Alpha Gamma Skit, I will try to get it for you, just PM me! Pref was excellent also. The main colors were white with a touch of deep red. It was really beautiful. I wished that we could do smaller numbers for pref, have more parties or something because the room was really tight and crowded. I didn't go to Chapel day but I was in touch with one of the girl's via cell. The chapter was really downhearted to learn that they hadn't reached Quota out of the chapel, especially knowing where they stood with return numbers on Saturday. The problem with having an old greek system and being the newest on campus is that the older groups have more of a pull. Like Erin mentioned, SK is the oldest group with deep running traditions at Gtown. They sometimes aren't the best group in a contest but they have tradition, and the PNMs know and see that. If we rushed in the Fall, we would have had quota plus I'm sure of it! Oh well... next year. Also we are an excellent COB chapter, so I have no fear of them reaching quota and then total after that. I will get the update from Laura about any additional information. They were going to snap bid but all of the girls that they were going to bid, had gone home (which isn't unusal). If you have any questions let me know! Loyally, Arin PS The one girl that I knew going through recruitment this year, came out wearing AGD letters. Yeah!!! |
Theta Pi started informal recruitment Monday night. We're eagerly awaiting results.
|
Theta Delta (NGa) got quota (34??)!
I also heard that NGa is getting an additional sorority but the AGD that told me couldn't remember which one, lol. |
It's Sigma Kappa.
