Anthony Hopkins is a great choice. Just finished the book last night. IT WAS GREAT! It held my attention the entire time. I even read it at work ( I know...bad me )! I was so interested because this is a theory I had never heard about before. Can't wait to see the movie!

From a conceptual perspective, the DaVinci code is in the ballpark. If you really get into the Hebrew and Greek in the Bible, you'll find a lot of the same information there regarding mystery religions and the whore of Babylon.

If you like the DaVinci code, I also recommend you read a series of books called The Alberto Series. It is the autobiography of a former Jesuit Priest, Dr. Alberto Rivera, who exposes the mafia- and occult -like atmoshpere of the Catholic Church. The books are written in comic book form so it's easier to understand and visualize what Dr. Alberto Rivera was saying.

You can find the books at www.chick.com.

I am a Christian and have been studying the Bible very thoroughly and I was not offended. I will say, that The Bible is the most accurate book I've seen in terms of historical record, archeology, science etc.

As I mentioned before, The DaVinci code, from a big picture perspective, had a lot of accuracies in terms of man-made religions and doctrines. But there are definitely some inaccuracies.

For example, if you study Josephus, the first-century historian, you know that the Hebrew culture at the time of the Last Supper doesn't align with the picture a lot of us grew up with.

ABC Primetime is showing a story about the book and the legend right now. It's called Jesus, Mary and DaVinci.

Did anyone catch Dan Brown (the author) on Good Morning America? I only saw the end of it, but he was saying that there are 4 secret messages/codes hidden on the book cover. Now, y'all know I studied the cover. I've found one, but I don't know what it means. He's been contacted by readers regarding only one of them (probably the one I found) and I think there's going to be some kind of competition to see if anyone can figure out all four. He gave a clue as to where one of them is, but I can't figure it out. Supposedly, the first line inside the front cover flap, "While in business in Paris..." is somehow a code. The only thing that stands out to me is that the "i" in the word business seems to be bolder than the other letters. But, that may just be my book.

Also, I just finished reading "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. I know Ideal08 was reading it too. Did you finish it? It started out very slow, but whoa, did it pick up. I enjoyed it. Has anyone else read it? Let's discuss.

Girl,

I bought it and haven't started it yet. I'll start it this weekend and try to finish it so we can discuss!

I missed him on Good America but saw him on the Jesus, Mary, daVinci special. What are the secret messages/codes supposed to be referring to? Now I'll probably be up all night studying the book cover. :(

He didn't say what the messages/codes were referring to, only that he was giving us a clue. That's why I have no idea what the one I found means. The one I found is on the front cover, as opposed to the flaps. I'll tell you where it is if you want to know. Now the one on the flap... I have now idea how he figures there's a message/code in there. I mean, we're only working with five words.

Not five words. I think I found a message in the synopsis on the front and backflap. You gave me the hint--the bolded "i" in business is no printer mistake.

I found out the hidden messages on the book jacket refer to the context of Dan Brown's next Robert Langdon story.

Whew!

It took me 2.5 hours and I missed Law and Order but I found the clues/messages. Try it--it's fun. I can't wait for the next Robert Langdon story. :D

You found them ALL??? And I thought I was something for finding the one on the cover. So, the one on the front flap deals with more than the first five words? I'm so happy I could give you a clue, because I have no earthly idea what to do with it, LOL.

ETA: Okay, I didn't realize the website had been changed to include new info. I'm on my way to figuring it all out now!

Go to the website and that is where the game is. It explains it all. The one on the front cover was the hardest for me. I can't see that well in the first place. :D

OK, so I just finished it and I LOVED it!!! I might have liked it better than The DaVinci Code, simply because the story was better to me. I think that this stuff is SO interesting! Dan Brown definitely does his research!!

Next I will look at the cover of The DaVinci Code to see these clues y'all talkin' 'bout....

norcalchick 06-13-2004 03:14 PM

has anyone read "Secrets of the Da Vinci Code"? I just bought it the other day but haven't read it yet.

NUPE4LIFE 06-13-2004 05:21 PM

I'm almost done with Angels and Demons. Right now I can't decide which book I like best. Side note: The next Robert Langdon mystery will deal with Masonry! After I finish reading A & D I'm gonna be starting on 'Digital Fortress' one of his first books. I'm totally hooked on the Robert Langdon series though. Very good reading!
