Hi Everyone!
Today is the Panhellenic Advisors Luncheon! We are going to set quota! There are 900 women signed up for recruitment this year at Ole Miss. That is the most we have ever had! And with only 9 GLOs I'm sure we are all going to do awesome! |
Ole Miss Rush Starts today!
Schedule Thursday, Oct 2: Philanthropy Round Parties 4pm, 5 parties at 50 minutes each Friday, Oct 3: Philanthropy Round Parties 4pm, 5 parties at 50 minutes each Saturday, Oct 4: 7am PNMs accept up to 6 skit round invitations 12:30pm PNMs pick up skit round schedules Skit Round Parties 1pm, 6 parties at 60 minutes each Sunday, Oct 5: 7am PNMs accept up to 3 Pref invitations 2:30pm PNMS pick up Pref schedules Pref Round Parties 3pm, 3 parties at 60 minutes each Monday, Oct 6: 5:45pm Bids Distributed Sororities at Ole Miss: Alpha Omicron Pi Chi Omega Delta Gamma Delta Delta Delta Kappa Delta Phi Mu Pi Beta Phi Kappa Alpha Theta Kappa Kappa Gamma The reason for ten parties is because there are 900 girls going through rush and with 9 sororities that would be too many girls at one party, so they added one party on Friday night, which makes it 90 girls at a party. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, AOII is ready for our PNMs! First we stack the door and do a cheer to the PNMs before they come into the house and then we run out and grab them and bring them into the house. For our philanthropy round we show a video we had made which shows the Juvenile Arthritis video from AOII headquarters and then it is a video about our chapter, Nu Beta. It is the best video we've ever had. Then the PNMs and AOIIs make therapeutic balls out of balloons and sand to be donated to the local retirement homes in the Oxford/Lafayette area. Then the PNMs are served AOII cookies and non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiris. Then the parties end and we do our traditional stacking of the door singing, “Remember AOII.” I will keep ya’ll updated! OH and quota is 84! |

Quota
How can quota be set BEFORE  the first invitational party?
Also, 84 X 9 = 756 900-756 = 144 women not given bids! Is this right? Do approximately 150 women fall through at Old Miss each YEAR? Help me to understand this process! Silver |
How many drop out typically?

We set quota last Wednesday at the Panhellenic Luncheon. Normally, about 100 will drop out and the rest will be released because of grades. Some girls don't listen to Panhellenic or their Gamma Chi's who tell them they probably will not be placed if they do not have at least a 2.5 gpa from highschool or a college or a community college. And then there are women who are not "sorority" material. There are some that are not financially stable or they are not able to meet other criteria like their activities in high school or their group adaptability. This is the most we've ever had go through rush. Last year there were about 750 girls. Also, the advisors of each house are going to meet on Saturday to see if we need to lower quota or set it higher. But right now it is set at 84. Personally I think that is awesome because chapter total is 150. It really should be about 180 because the average size of houses at Ole Miss is about 180. Two houses have 200+ members! Anyway!
Tonight, the first set of round one parties was awesome! The Gamma Chi's said AOII had the best video that they had seen so far and that they were impressed because we had enough chairs for our members and the rushees. Also, our girls looked so cute! Tonight we did not meet for a bid session. We will meet tomorrow night....long night tomorrow night...I can feel it already. Also, I found out that one sorority, no names mentioned either, was called out by the Gamma Chi's at their party for hot boxing, which is when three or more actives is talking/speaking/chatting with a rushee. This is so not cool at Ole Miss. They do not like that at all. So, that sorority will have to pay a steep fine and possibly have to loose a social or two. Our legacies and courtesies were amazing tonight. We are only allowed one alumnae out on the floor, and so I made my rounds to all of the girls and our tip top rushees. Well, that's all for tonight, I will post either Saturday or Sunday with more updates. Oh yeah, and we had two girls that were at our parties tonight that have juvenile arthritis, so our philanthropy video really hit home..... Roses! Thanks for the thoughts! I know Nu Beta is and will continue to represent AOII well! |
Good job to Nu Beta! I wish I could see recruitment at Ole Miss...a lot different from what I have experienced I am sure! My question is, had I rushed there, would I still be an AOII? I didn't know ANY greeks before I rushed...and I had no recs...can girls who rush with no recs get bids?

95? WOW! Congrats Nu Beta! It sounds like recruitment efforts were wildly successful for all 9 chapters at Ole Miss this year. I wish we heard these types of happy endings at every greek campus.
