SWEET, SWEET FREEDOM!!! :p Now I'm on the "I-can't-keep-anything-down-why-do-they-call-it-morning-sickness-when-you-have-it-all-damn-day" Diet.
Congratulations!!!!

*sippin my water* Me, Me, Me, Me, Me . . .

I'd like to send this one out to the lady vomiting in the first row. That's right Miss Serenity. This one's for you.

Ahem, I'm ready to sing now.

Happy Baby to You, Happy Baby to You, Happy Baaaaaaaaaaby!!!!

Thanks for the congrats, everyone!! Oh and the song, ClassyLady. :D TooCute, I'm going to PM you for those food suggestions...

BTW, yesterday on "Weekend Today", this woman was on touting her 500 Low-Carb Recipes book. She even made some of the recipes from the book: pancakes (the batter was weird), a shrimp dish, and a pumpkin (and something else) cheesecake. I would definitely buy the book for the dessert/snack section alone.

My weakness is snacking, so when I was on Atkins my goal was to find snacks that I could munch with little or no guilt. Here's my list: CHEESECAKE (no crust, you can make your own and use Splenda instead of sugar), Hot n' Spicey Pork Rinds (no carbs in pork rinds), walnuts, macadamia nuts w/ chocolate whip cream (sometimes I'd just eat the whip cream alone straight from the can and pretend it was ice cream :o), Diet Barq's root beer with 2 teaspoons of heavy cream (tastes like a float, Coke is good to use too), Blue Bunny sugar-free treats (varies from 5-10 carbs each), cold cut roll-ups (ham, swiss and lettuce w/ dijon mustard or homemade guacamole), Musselmans Lite apple sauce (10 carbs each)... If I think of any more that I left out, I'll post them.

I also tried to find ways to make low carb versions of my favorite foods. I LOVE mexican food, so I'd make my own taco/fajita salad. I'd load my plate with crisp, crunchy lettuce and pile on the meat (beef or chicken) and all my favorite toppings like cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, etc. Tastes so good and I didn't miss the tortilla or taco shell because the salad provided some crunch.

THe thing that helped me to eat lo-starch was learning to pair my meat dishes only with veggies. I don't need rice or potato to complete a meal, I am good with a piece of fish or chicken and some steamed veggies....

I am making myself hungry.

Congrats Serenity!!

While I was being dilligent to the diet last week, I found out that my brother and sister (we're doing it together) had a dozen of KRISPY KREMES!! I was so jealous because that's a serious weakness of mine.

I need to stroll over here more often...

I started Induction on Tuesday (seriouslylimited my carb intake on Mon too)

It's SOOOOOOOOOOO hard!

I realized I eat far too many carbs

I am not a very nice person

Carbs are my favorite, but I'm doing a good job

My real test is tomorrow: My mom is having a dinner party featuring yams, mac and cheese, cake, and other no-no's

PRAY FOR ME!!!

I'll pray for you, and I applaud all Atkinsites. I'm not disciplined enough to do this.

Thank you, Soror. I really need it! I mean a friend just asked me to make a run to Coldstone's with her...people have been asking me out to get a drink...WHY!!!...so that I can sit there and watch you indulge, while I have a nice, tall glass of ICE WATER...

Abaici, there are no carbs in hard liquor. When I went out while I was on Atkins I would have a rum and diet coke or I did shots and ordered diet soda. I'm a light weight when it comes to drinking so I was pretty much set after one or two drinks. :o

Just stay away from those fruity, frosty, sugary drinks and you'll be fine.

ttt

hey...what happened to the updates?:( :(

abaici 08-27-2003 06:53 PM

Well...I lasted 10 days

I went to a function and broke my 14 day induction...However, I am still on a low carb diet, just not Atkins. After the first 3 days, I had no desire to eat carbs. After the 10 days I cooked rice one day and potatoes the next, and I didn't even eat them. I just do not have the desire anymore. Also, I only drink water... No juice or sodas. Another positive, it really cut my desire to snack..major problem for a teacher on summer vacation.

I failed at Atkins, but I am still proud of myself.

:D MYYYY hubby has lost 40 lbs in 4 mos.! He used to wear a size 52 and now he is down to a 48/46! I am soooo prooud of him!

I'm trying to lose a few post-baby pounds and since several faculty members at my school are doing Atkins, I decided to try it. The hardest thing for me during the induction period (6th day here) is no sweet tea, although Splenda is kind of okay in tea.

What's spurring me on is how much weight the other profs have lost.

lovelyivy84 08-28-2003 03:26 AM

Atkins has to be a lifestyle change. If you don't change the way you eat permanently then you'll gain most of the weight back the minute you stop eating the Atkins way.

ckretintress 08-28-2003 10:20 AM

Remember you all no sodas with Aspartame in them. However, I went out of town, and I had to drink a few of those diet sodas and regular sodas. I ate things that I should not have been eating, like waffles, cheeseburgers with bread, wedding cake, breaded chicken, gravy, and everything else. I did it in moderations though. Unfortunately I gained five pounds since Friday. Today is Thursday. I lost four of the pounds. Guys the best time to weigh is in the morning when you first wake up with out any clothes on with the scale on a level rugless surface.

Remember to use SPLENDA as the sugar sub. It tastes like sugar and drink Diet Rite. This is the only soda you can drink.
