This "problem" is actually more common than a lot would think. It's called the mother/madonna whore complex and is psychological. It's an idealization of motherhood. After a woman gives birth to a child, the man actually is unable to place her in a sexual capacity but in the mother capacity. They are unable to have sex with the woman. It's some wack BS to me, but hey, it could hapen, I guess.

Okay. Not that Kobe has or had this and wasn't just looking for some a$$, but I figured I would shed light on this topic since it could be a possibility, although unlikely.

Just my $19.13.

Yeah, I know about the "madonna/whore" complex thingie and how common it is, but it just pisses me off, ya know??? You're right, it's some wack BS, and this is coming from someone who studied psychology and hoping to continue in the field.

I was gonna post that yesterday, but GC was acting a fool!

Vanessa is on the payroll!

As I read this posts I am dismayed that everyone is so surprised that Ms. Laine-Bryant is sticking buy her husband.

I know that many NBA/NFL wives fully expect their men to cheat. I know of one lady who at the time was the fiance and is now the wife of an NFL star who said, "I know he has women on the side, but I don't care. I'm the one he loves. I'm the one with the six carat rock. I'm the one with a phat condominium that's paid for (they weren't even married yet, nor did they live together). So I get all the perks and why do I care where he sleeps as long as he's protected."

I tell that story to say that these women know what they are signing up for when they sign their marriage papers. They expect to sacrifice the commitment of marriage for the money, celebrity, etc..

That's why I was not surprised at all at Vanessa's response. She got on Kobe's payroll long ago and has been bought off in full.

Hell yeah she'll take the ring he bought her, she'd have stayed without it. Ups to her for milking the situation and getting it. I guess she renegotiated her contract:D

Anyway, I don't believe he did it. I thought today's Boondocks was hillarious. Check it out. I can't figure out how to paste the pic in.

RedefinedDiva 07-31-2003 11:16 AM

I'm sorry, but no amount of money in the world will make me give up the sanctity of marriage. I know that these women sign on for a hard task. Like the woman that Exquisite5 spoke of, some of them don't care. They just want the money and fame. Some of these women don't think that it will happen to them or that they can change their man. Who knows? I know that I don't care how well I'm being "taken care of" or whatever the case may be. I couldn't hold my head up and claim to truly be happy and in love know that my man is giving it to other women on the regular.

GIRL....GET YO MONEY!!!

I haven't really chimed in on this whole Kobe thing much, so I'll speak my peace now...

A celebrity/athlete/entertainer marriage is a Business arrangement. Sure, there may be some love involved, but it's all business. Big ups to Vanessa for being the Bizness woman that she is. Heck, I thought she was probably a little young and stupid. Quite frankly, she would have looked dumber to me if she had been on TV crying and walked out on her man. Instead, she is securing a financial future for herself and her daughter and I AIN"T MAD AT HER. That girl is beautiful. I used to think she was a little tacky looking. (The new hair color is very becoming on her). Kobe is an idiot at best for not being able to hold out for a couple of days on the road. This ain't the first time he's cheated on that girl, and probably won't be the last. Vanessa pu$$y-whipped his stupid tail into marrying her without at pre-nup and now she's got him ON LOCK! In the state of California, all she has to do is stay with him for 10 years and she is GUARANTEED BY LAW to take HALF! It's BIZNESS!

Here's the latest...

Okay here's the latest in this drama. I'm just hoping he didn't really rape her, I am such a big Kobe fan... I agree that I'm not surprised that Vanessa is staying with him. When everything first came out it never crossed my mind she would leave or divorce him.

Kobe Bryant reportedly ignored accuser's demand to stop

JON SARCHE, Associated Press Writer Thursday, July 31, 2003

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(07-31) 11:42 PDT EAGLE, Colo. (AP) --

Kobe Bryant has already said he had sex with a 19-year-old hotel worker who has accused him of rape, but new reports present a more complicated picture about what happened in his mountain resort suite a month ago.

ABC News and the Vail Daily, citing anonymous sources, reported that Bryant and the woman had some consensual sexual contact but that she did not agree to have intercourse with him.

The network also said the woman, a concierge at the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, was in Bryant's room for less than a half hour. Both ABC and the Vail paper reported that Bryant gave inconsistent statements to Eagle County authorities.

Police and court records have been sealed and Judge Frederick Gannett has limited what officials can say about the case. Gannett was to hear arguments Thursday during a hearing on whether the records in the case should be made public.

ABC and the Vail paper reported that Bryant's accuser gave him a tour of the hotel when he arrived June 30 and that he later asked her to come to his room.

The Rocky Mountain News reported Thursday that law enforcement sources close to the investigation said the woman suffered physical trauma in the vaginal area. The Vail paper also reported that its sources said the woman showed signs of physical injury.

Krista Flannigan, a spokeswoman for the Eagle County prosecutor, declined comment Thursday. Sheriff's spokeswoman Kim Andree said her office would not comment on the reports.

Andree said only two people in the sheriff's office have regular access to the investigative records, and said she trusts both not to release information. She said such action would be grounds for dismissal.

just another point of view

I was watching Kobe's court preceding on Court TV and there was a very outspoken sista that felt like Kobe was trying to lean on African Americans for sympathy (much like OJ) and never did much for the AA community. I must admit it makes me a little upset to see black athletes marry white women once they have reached their "status" and I guess SOME would consider that turning your back on your people. But I think that this whole cases might turn racial much like the OJ case plus, with the town only having (2) two AA I don't think that he hearing is going to be as equal as it could be....one of the first things I would have requested is an change of venue!

What do you all think?

First of all, Vanessa Bryant's not white. She's multiracial, mainly Latina.
Secondly, there are plenty of AA athletes who are married to AA women who don't, as it were, "do much." I think they are concerned about their commercial appeal and moneymaking potential, and it's a reflection of the society we live in.

Not everybody's going to be an Arthur Ashe or Jackie Robinson, or nor should they be. IMO, everybody has different priorities, but as I've said, this trial may make OJ look like traffic court.

From what I understand, there was a change of venue request, but I don't know the status of it.

Thanks for the clarification BUT Vanessa isn't black therefore, he still marrying out of his race. True some AA athletes don't give back to the AA community that are married to AA women--point taken:)
