I hate my name... well, I hate my whole name when its combined. My first name is Whitney which I really dislike. No one has that name on the east coast, but it's allllll over the west coast! Still hate it.
My middle name COULD be pretty... if it went with the rest of my name. It just sounds so out of place. Alessandra. It would be beautiful if my name was Italian (ie: Daniella Alessandra Ciccone... or something like that) and it all just flowed. But, my last name is German and it just doesn't fit. Alessandra COULD be a really nice name, if used correctly. :) For some reason, I loooove names that sound like last names. My favorites are presidential: Reagan for a girl and Jackson Carter (Jack) for a boy. I also like boys names for girls: Ryann, Charlie, James (as in James King), etc. I wouldn't name my daughter with one of those names, but I do think they're cute. I also love the names Bennett for a boy and Ava (which my mom wanted to name me!) and Brynn for girls. I like the names Keegan and Tierney as middle names, too. They sound like maiden names... but they're not. I'm weird. ;) |
Something dumb I said once. Remember when Old Testament names started to be real popular for boys? I said,"I really don't like those Biblical names for boys." My mom asked, "Well, what names do you like?" and I said "oh, James, Paul, Matthew..." Boy, did I get SUCH a look....
When I started school, I could not spell Elizabeth. I spent practically all of first grade with a name card taped to my desk. I would write "Eliz" and then stop because it was soooo long. It morphed to Liz in junior high, and in high school it became Lizz because I wanted it to be different. I still have to tell people, "Yes, it has 2 Zs." |

I don't know if anyone posted this, but I have the opposite problem. I have too formal a name. It's very aristocratic (not bragging either), and I've always wanted a nickname, something my friends could call me...
|
My mom named me Sarah, and she thought she was being different because at the time, there weren't many. Now, we're everywhere! All throughout grade school, all the other Sarah's and I would scream "SPECIFY!" when the teacher would call on just plain "Sarah." ARGH
There aren't many nicknames for Sarah...so my friends just call me Sa, or Sarah G (my middle name starts with a G) to differentiate. My family affectionately calls me "Harass" because if you remove the 2nd "s" Haras is Sarah spelled backwards. :p |
OK, My name is Stephanie, but I have NEVER gone by that... always 'Stevie', I dont think I'm ready for the turn over yet... I'm currently co-oping [ya know, real job] and they call me stevie too... i'm not sure if i could answer to Stephanie- because i know they'd shorten it to Steph or Stephie and if they're gonna shorten it.. why not call me stevie still?

Amy.
Well, had a class in HS where there were SIX Amys. So friends took to calling me AL (my initials). Over the years people other than high school friends have tried to call me AL and I won't even answer to it, its like I don't hear them, its just not right not coming out of a HS friend's mouth. Ames, Aim-those are the usual. One friend I no longer am friends with called me Aimers, that drove me nuts. I always preferred Amycat, but no one would call me that... thank God for GC, lol. |
