I can't wait for Beyonce's CD. I think I will have to DL some of Monica's tracks before I buy. AKA2D and Gina hopefully y'all can give us an album review. |
Y'all will have to tell me how good Monica's cd is because I don't want to buy a wack cd. LET ME KNOW!
I hope MJB steps up to the plate with the cd because her last album was GARBAGE! I can't wait to hear this new 112 cd. I'm a big fan of theirs. When is Carl Thomas coming back out with something?? I miss him... his first album is still on POINT! It's about time for D'Angelo to come with something else? Is it just me, or was KeKe Wyatt the bomb too? I need another cd from her too. Don't y'all forget to keep a sista posted on Monica's album!:D |
Are my music tastes changing?
I don't really like the new Monica song. But I haven't heard the remixes, either. That's one I won't be buying. I haven't bought a CD in at least a month or more. I want Kindred and Goapele. I still don't have The Roots. Right now, I need to stock up on old CD's. Like I want DasEFX (the one with the green cover).

I can't wait for Beyonce's either, even though I'm still not feeling her, just her music. I'll let y'all know about Monica. I figure if I don't like it, I can sell it on eBay. ;) |
Have you all seen the video for Hidden Beach II: Bouncing Back? I love that beat with the jazz included...it's TIGHT! I also love the new Mike Phillips song featuring J.R. called "Wonderful & Special." I also love that song by Kindred....they're with Hidden Beach too, I believe. That's what I call real music!

Beyonce and Luther
Has anyone else heard the duet that Beyonce and Luther do on his new album? I was pleasantly surprised. It sounds nice. They sound good together to me. I'm becoming more impressed with her as each day goes by.

I've only listened to Monica's first disc. I didn't really realize there was another disc until this afternoon. :o I have the remix on repeat. I'm kind of disappointed, but since I did get 2 discs for $9.99, I'm not too hurt.
I still prefer the Miss Thang CD. :D Ideal, when you get back...I bought The Roots after you all left. The chit is DA BOMB! There is a DVD that was included I still haven't watched. :o |
After listening to Monica's CD's (regular and bonus), I have decided that my favorite song on there is "Knock, Knock". Missy and Kanye West both did an EXCELLENT job with production and Monica killed the vocals!! I wish she would release this as her next single.
ETA: I have now heard two more songs off of Beyonce's CD. I heard Baby Boy with Sean Paul last night at the club, it was HOT!! I also have another song on a mixtape. Based on these two songs, plus "Crazy in Love" I will definitely have to buy her CD. |
MUSICAL FYI
"HIDDEN BEACH SET FOR JULY 1 RELEASE
OF CD SHOWCASING NEW, EMERGING TALENT " June 16th, 2003 Hidden Beach Press Release Written By Chris Cathcart click to visit: www.hidden-hits.com “HIDDEN HITS” COMPILATION FEATURES RISING STARS FROM ACROSS THE NATION…& the WORLD ARTISTS TO POINT-UP LOCAL AREA MARKETING Santa Monica, CA – On July 1, Hidden Beach Recordings will unveil the next wave of emerging new stars with the hotly anticipated release of “Hidden Hits,” the label’s breakthrough compilation CD of unheralded and unsigned artists. Officially titled Hidden Beach Recordings Presents: Hidden Hits Vol. 1, the 17-track set of all original material presents a broad mix of musical genres and artistic styles, ranging from Hip Hop to soul to a cool international vibe, among others. The CD showcases unknown, yet highly talented artists hailing from such diverse areas as Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Dallas, Columbus, OH and even Paris, France. And, most importantly, the “Hidden Hits” tracks satisfy the project’s two main criteria – they meet Hidden Beach’s high standards for quality and are performed by artists not currently signed to a major recording deal. On the site you can sample some of the songs. They took songs like Biggies 1 more chance and added a jazz singer and jazzy beat and I will have to admit it was nice. Click on the link and check it out. |
Today I went to Best Buy where I was told by a Zeta SF that KEM and Kindred were available for $9.99.
I bought Kem -- $9.99 (I am on track #2 and digging it so far, nice jazzy mix and instrumentation.) Monica -- sold out @ BB; $13.99 @ Target; $12.99 @ CC. I will hit up another BB tomorrow Oh and Kindred was marked as $14.99 at BB. I did not check for it at Circuit City though. Oh and I am digging the Bow Wow song. I finally heard Mary's song -- it has to grow on me. Oh and 2D, Miss Thang is still my joint too. I never bought CD #2 because what I heard did not impress me. ETA: KEM's CD has a couple of songs that remind me of Al Jarreau. |
