Gryffindor is that house that Harry Potter is in at his school "Hogwarts".

Liz (tinydancer) is using "Gryffindor" as a pretend sorority name, because, in the interests of being discreet, she does not want to reveal the sorority's "real name" just yet! :D (You know, not to jinx it and all that!)

Also, in a different thread, some of us were saying, "Wouldn't it be easier if instead of Rush, we could plop a 'sorting hat' on all the rushees' heads (again, from Harry Potter) and then the rushees would know which house they truly belonged in.

Oh, and I think I chimed in, then which sorority would be the evil Slytherin house?...LOL

CutiePie, thanks for the Harry Potter clarification!! Hehehe.. I never did read any of the Harry Potter books, so I guess that's why I'm lost!

I can totally understand why she would want to keep the sorority name a secret (even I did that in my rush thread!) I just wasn't sure what a gryffindor was! Maybe I'll pick up one of those Harry Potter books for a nice summer read!

Thanks again!! :)

Aw, you're so welcome.
Here is the "Sorting Hat thread" that we were getting our inspiration from.

Tinydancer,

Damn, hurry up, I am getting blue in the face from holding my breath!:D

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-21-2003 02:49 AM

I was thinking maybe tiny dancer could give us a hint like one of the colors of Gryffindor? So that way we could narrow it down in our minds? lol

tinydancer 05-21-2003 10:57 AM

Ohhhh, I'm afraid not! That might totally give it away (Yep, I know - that's what you want!!!)

I'm still not sayin'

till it's for sure!!
;)

texas*princess 05-21-2003 11:03 AM

::thinking::

Yes, tiny d, best to keep 'mum'..the colours would DEFINITELY give it away. ;)
Hang in there, my impatient Panhellenic sisters, the "Sorting Hat" will reveal ALL soon enough! :D
-------------------------------
P.S. The above may or may not be a "red herring".

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-21-2003 11:48 AM

ok i can respect that! ;) i just know some of us have the same color (like blue) as one of the colors but if the colors are distinct i don't want you to give it away. we'll just have to wait :) good luck!

Hehe, not fair! I have 2 sororities that I think Gryffindor might be...

CutiePie2000 05-21-2003 12:39 PM

Well, in Harry Potter's Gryffindor, the colors are red and yellow, which are also the colors of my amycat's University of Southern California Trojans, and are, coincidentally, also the colors of Chi Omega!
Coincidence? Ah...the plot thickens...
But perhaps, I am just using this thread to practice my HTML and UBB skills??

Mwah ha ha ha!
