From 6th grade to 9th grade I played the saxophone.

I also played the piano, until my junior yr in college.

I didn't keep up and practice either one very much after I got older, I can still (barely) play the piano. I'm thinking about taking lessons again.

Flute in 6-9th grades. But my nice flute got stolen during gym class in 8th grade and I had to borrow my friends old, yucky one after that. It was nice of her to loan it to me, but it was not shiny and new like mine. Realized by 10th grade that band was not for me. Now I wish I hadn't quit.

I played the trumpet from 6-10th grade..even made it to first chair and section leader..our little phrase/signature mark was T-dogs (we lifted our trumpets in one hand to form the top of the T and the other was the line at the bottom)..[pause] woof woof..we were crunk!!

Violin is my passion- been playing since I was in the 2nd grade.

Piano is my second passion- started playing in Junior high.

I played the flute and clarinet for 1 year- didn't like them. I love my string instruments (I guess you can say I love percussion instruments also, since the piano is considered a string and percussion instrument).

~played the recorder in elementary for music class
~played clarinet 6th-12th
~and marched saxaphone my senior year in highschool

Organ from 4th grade to 6th grade.
Flute from 5th grade to present.
Recorder from 6th grade to 8th grade.
Drums from 9th grade to 10th grade.
Piccolo from 9th grade to 11th grade.

When I was in high school band was like a sport. Very, very competitive. By the time I was a sophomore I was one of 14 junior conductors and was permitted to re-write music for the band. You worked out on the track field (whether in rain or snow flurries). The practices were taped so they can determine who was out of step and that person was pulled aside after band rehearsal. As strict as our instructor was it paid off when we were invited to the Bahamas for three straight years when I was in high school for competition. The last year I was in band---we placed first.

Now, I don't compete anymore but I do occasionally tutor.

Played in Kindermusic when I was a baby
Piano until I couldn't take it anymore
Clarinet through middle school
Oboe at 8th grade until present
Xylo for marching band--
Back to oboe for college

I ended up getting a minor in music for oboe performance at UNC-Greensboro. I was really good at it, but havent touched it in about a year...trying to graduate first.
I was the shyt at xylo, much better than oboe, thanks to Ms. Adkins at Scotland High school.

--Now that I think about it, there are some talented black folk that play music!!!! I was the only oboist in my school(college)--

Ok, that's right. I forgot that he is a member of the Dave Matthews Band. I'm going to have to look into them more. I know he is a South African, and he grew up in Virginia.

If you mean where am I from... Cleveland, Ohio!!!!

I played the clarinet and now my daughter plays. She seems to be a natural, reads music easily where I always struggled.
