i love watching sorority life. cracks me up.
the article......funny as all get out. the only thing that actually irritates me though is the fact that i have met a few girls who weren't going to consider sorority b/c they thought that what was portrayed in sorority life is for real. i had to convince some hs chic that we do more than party 24/7. it's just sort of sad that the image is so screwed up, but damn is it funny to watch those shows. shelley j sigma k |
Pledges vs. sisters
Sorority Life 1 showed the _pledges_ acting in all kinds of unbecoming ways, but on the other hand, it showed the sisters of SAEPi as their very unstereotypical selves. I thought it was pretty clear that most of the pledges were just there to be on TV and that the real sorority was the people in the background. And that real sorority in the background was unblond, often unskinny, unWASP, unditzy, unelitist...un- just about everything sororities are attacked for being.
If the previews are any indication, they've found a much more stereotypical sorority for this season. I don't think it will do much for the image of Greek women (I mean, using your letters to vandalize??), but I have to admit, I'll definitely be watching! Ivy |
I think this season will definitely be interesting. I'm not sure how many other people feel this way, but I think it's worth watching, if for no other reason than to know what kind of questions you might be asked. My real little sister is going to watch it too because she thinks its hilarious that sorority life is portrayed so wrongly, and she's not even in a GLO (yet)! Okay, enough for now. We'll see how the first episode goes tonight.
