You guys are forgetting some of the classics.

Fraternity Demon, Rush week, Black Christmas, and House on Sorority Row. 80's slasher films loaded with nudity.

do any of these show hazing? We ususally show Animal House for our anti-hazing pledge event and we are looking to change it up. Ideas? Some one thought Revenge of the Nerds, but that doesn't seem like it is all hazing and stuff. Anyhow, if anyone has ideas it would be appreicated :)

Isn't this the movie where the blonde girl wants to kill Shannen Doherty, and the blonde girl loses her freakin mind?

"Friends Till the End" with Shannen Doherty, plays frequently on VH1 (or it did before VH1 started to blow chunks). It's a fairly positive portrayal of sorority women (Shannen is in a band and has other interests) and sororities in general, except the president of the sorority is a beeeyotch.
On another note, I saw the previews for Legally Blonde 2 and Old School. Legally Blonde 2 doesn't really give you much to go on, but Old School looks absolutely hilarious. Yeah, it probably perpetuates some bad Greek press, but if you see Will Ferrell in the previews, you'd be laughing your butt off!!!

Well, there's always "School Daze" which is out on DVD and is real
blast to watch if you've never been exposed to the culture of NPHC
fraternities, but having said that I've found that most members of
NPHC orgs who post here really do NOT like this movie. Something
about the way Spike Lee likes to air people's dirty laundry.

Speaking for myself though, I was lucky enough to see this when I was
in college with an XO I was dating at the time and we totally tripped
out on it, especially the part where they showed the little sisters
participating in the hazing/hell week.

Another good one that's available is "The Lords of Discipline". Even
though it's about a military academy and not a fraternity its heart is
in the right place. It depicts hazing, someone taking a stand against
it, and the consequences of that choice.

But hands-down, the two best ones are "Fraternity Row" and "The
Hazing" both from the 70's, however you will have a very hard time
finding either of them on video. You'll have to search for a used
rental copy on Ebay or Amazon, but both films are quite good.

Did anyone mention PCU?

About School Daze, it's more how Spike Exaggerates and isn't Greek himself.

Has anyone ever seen SORORITY HOUSE PARTY? It used to come on USA Up All Nite. The begining scenes are at a Sororities house party, but that's it. It's actually about a rock star whose manager tries to kill him so he can cash in on selling merchandise or a "dead rock star". These Sorority girls kidnap him while he's drunk at a bar and leave him at the Sorority house. It's pretty funny in a USA Up All Nite sort of way. Very much a B movie.

Did anyone say...

Hey

Did anyone say Sorority Boys, that movie is so funny. If you're looking for a movie to laugh at that's it.

It's on again, and I am watching it for the first time. I like it so far, and it is reminiscent of the novel "The Pledge."

Just a side note: I read a post waaaaaay back on the thread and it said the Dying to Belong has Jenna Van Oy in it. Haha. She's a Theta.

One cheesy TV movie that hasn't been mentioned here is the 70s film The Initiation of Sarah with Shelley Winters. She plays a housemother to the "geek" sorority on campus, and the "initiation" involves black magic and witchcraft in one way or other.

Sure, it portrays both sorority life and witchcraft in a bad light, but the movie is still a lot of fun to watch.

I'm glad my sorority experience isn't like that. I'm pagan and didn't "go Greek" until in my late 40s.

It's cool that she didn't let her hazing experience stand in the way of joining a sorority! ;)

"Going Greek"

Best Greek movie ever.
There are some pretty wicked hazing scenes/stereotypes--but a lot of realistic things and underlying themes that the writers probably weren't even trying to show, but they did. We suggest that every new member class watch it together.

they sold out like that for $1500?! ridiculous.
and i find it weird that NYU film students would be into making a movie about greek life.
