Bumping this because I've got some more.

"Core values"

"Turnkey operation"

"decency on the airwaves"

"Trista"

DeltAlum 03-02-2004 05:04 PM

"Doable."

I hate it every time I say it.

Re: Hmmm....

"heart" instead of love. I don't know if people have been using this a while anywhere else, but the girls in my chapter started saying it like 3 years ago, and I still hear people saying it (including said girls from chapter).

More sorority girl speak - "obvi" for obvious and "poss" for possible. Come on.

AOPIHottie 03-02-2004 05:29 PM

I am so sick of "cracker" to describe "white people" My asian ex-boyfriend used this word ALL the time, and when he finally used it to describe me.....See ya.......

I also hate when my boss says "cheese and rice" and "whats up Mary Mary?" I only have ONE name. Not 2. Please only use it one time, since I am the only mary there, I am pretty sure I hear it the FIRST time. Thanks.

and even though I used this word myself for awhile, I am getting tired of Hooker. The girls and I used that word for awhile and I am tired of it.

Last one, when people call people by thier LAST names-if there are more than one Josh at work, ok that was cool, we used last names, but when there is only one "Bob" we don't need to call him by his last name. Geez.

"represent" or "representing" to announce affiliation to a group that has nothing to do with that affiliation.

Like, "I'm here representing Jackson Heights." Great. Now shut up and go back to where you "represent."

Thats so "dope" . . .

it doesn't even sound cool . . .

1) I CANNOT stand to hear people say, "If I would have known." For heaven's sake, that phrase doesn't exist in the English language. Say, "If I had known, I would/wouldn't have..."

2) I'm SO over that!

3) I had a teacher a while back that used to say "cit-it-sin" for the word "citizen." It drove me crazy!

4) I also hate when people mispronounce non-English words that have become common to English speakers. Ex: La Femme Nikita - ok, "Femme" is not "fehm" it is "fum." AND "laissez-faire" is not "lahzay-fair" it is "lehsay-fair"

5) I HATE the word "Whatever" when people are trying to refute something I've said. Why not just come back with an intelligent response????

6) Please learn the difference between "less" and "fewer." Grocery stores have it wrong!! Don't get sucked in!! "Less" is used for things you CAN'T count. "Fewer" is used for things you CAN count.
*10 Items or Less????? Can you count the Items that you're buying?? If so, then it's 10 Items or Fewer.
*But, you can't (well, wouldn't) count water, so you can have less water in your glass than your friend.

I HATE HATE HATE the word "sweet" as in, "that's a sweet car!" Sounds so dorky.

I also hate when people say, "My bad!"

Dionysus 03-02-2004 06:21 PM

Co-sign!! I spent about a year around a whole bunch of people who said "sweet" all the time. I can't STAND to hear it now!

"babyfather" "babymother"
This just annoys and I do not understand what is with this nonsense! :)

The father of a child is a FATHER, and the mother is a MOTHER! Parents, mother, father. Even young mother or single mother etc. Those are all proper words and terms.
And the worst I have heard more recently: "a 1 month old babyperson" when describing a kid. Wtf?! Babyperson?? BABY!!!

Cleansing breaths ;)

"Please stay on the line. Your call is very important to us."

DigitalAngel126 03-05-2004 01:26 AM

Okay...Maybe this an idiots-from-Indiana thing, but I HATE IT.  For some reason I hear SO many people saying "Flustrated"...Flustered + Frustrated = Flustrated?? I THINK NOT.

Also, I have a friend who is just an idiot and she pronounces "While" like "Why".... Are L's really that difficult?

Um, and DO NOT ask me "What's up with THAT??!". If you don't know, I probably don't know either, so don't ask me like it's some kind of seceret we're all keeping from YOU.
