MY brother just found my Pogo Ball and was like "what the hell is this thing?" I forgot all about Fraggles and shrinky dinks and colorforms! My parents don't throw any toys away, so I know all of these items must be in the attic somewhere! Kinda makes me wanna have a big sleepover just to play with childhood toys!

SHRINKY DINKS KICKED @$$!!! Children today are sadly deprived...

food
I also remember eating Pac Man cereal---yummy!
What ever happened to microwave cakes and brownies? |

I miss spirographs. Couldda told back then I was gonna be a graphic Artist. It was my favorite indoor toy. Of course, the football was the prefered outdoor toy after mom and dad clarified which was which. |
I miss the garden ranch pitas from Wendy's........
Also, Mad Balls...does anyone remember those crazy things? They were balls (about the size of a baseball) with really gross faces on them. My brother had them and they freaked me out!!! |

EDITED TO ADD -- Okay, just went back and saw that someone mentioned Garbage Pail Kids already. Also, I ADORED KFC Chicken Lils' too! They were so good! |
Oh yeah! Let me add in those fruit drinks that you could get in amusement parks that are in the same shape as the flavor of juice you were drinking!
My favorite was grape juice, and the bunch of grapes shape was much easier to hold onto than the orange. :) And for all of you cereal fans.....Target has Boo-Berry, Frankenberry, & Count Chocula 2 for $4! |
I love madballs!!
|
As for cereal, do they still make Cookie Crunch? That was some good stuff!
EDITED TO ADD -- Wow... I just can't get enough of this thread. I thought of something else I miss... Jem and the Holograms!!! |
I know they sell malt-o-meal in Houston at Kroger, Randalls (Same as Tom Thumb), HEB, Gerland's, Albertson's (until they left TX) and up here in RI, I am pretty sure that Shaw's and Stop and Shop have it.

In Georgia, you can buy it (supposedly) at Target, Super K, and Wal-Mart Super Center (or whatever it's called). |

Just to close the book on the Care Bear rumors.....go to Toys R Us.....they have the actual stuffed bears there and I do not believe that Bedtime Bear has closed eyes. I should know for sure since we have one!!!!!!!!! Darci rocked........she was prettier than Barbie (or at least I thought so) and you could actually get her in a hair color other than blonde!!!!!!! (I always wanted Barbies who looked like me.) AND Darci had a fashion model friend named Erica..........they spelled it wrong, but hey, close enough. Colorforms were the best.........they are actually still out there but I don't know how much they have deviated from their original form. Remember Fashion Plates? It was this little frame thing that you put these plates in, and then you closed it down on your paper and you rubbed the pattern, and it traced it onto your paper.........it was a fashion design thing. I was obsessed with modeling and fashion, so I loved them. How about those old air popcorn poppers? Those were such an innovation!!!!!!!!! Hee hee.....I remember cooking popcorn the old fashioned way, in a pan on the stove. (I still think it tastes better than microwave.) But Jiffy Pop did rule..... I loved Nehi pop........Nehi grape and peach especially. Anyone remember the pizza from Pizza Hut that came out in the 80s.....I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called, but it was stuffed, like a regular pie. You know, there was the bottom crust and then the toppings, but it had another crust on the top and I think more cheese on it. MMMMMMM. What I really miss is GOOD Taco Bell food. I worked there when I was 16 and the food was REALLY good then. Everything was made from scratch. The meat, the beans.......the beans came in a big bag, they were just dry beans, and we cooked them in a huge pot with (I think) lard. We shredded our own cheese, cut up our own veggies.......and the best part was CINNAMON CRISPAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, my mouth waters just thinking of them. They were fresh tortillas, cut up and deep fried, then smothered in cinnamon sugar. God!!!!!!!!! They banned them for being too difficult and not cost effective, and then they brought in the stupid Twists, which still taste like styrofoam to me. (I think they ARE styrofoam. They come in a big bag and they are really small, hard, and compact. Then when they cook them they puff up. Yuck.) I even remember the era of the Bellbeefer, which was basically Taco Bell taco meat on a bun. (This was before I worked there.) I remember when KFC was Kenny King's. It was a lot better then too. Oh, the memories........how they all pile on. The more I read of this thread, the more I want to find a time machine and go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
