I was just thinking...if I was a Kappa Delta I would name my daughter Kaydee. Cute, huh.

DeltAlum 06-17-2008 11:31 PM

Kristin, Meggen and Zak.

Well, I guess that's because those are our three kids.

Well, our adult kids.

I'll play...

Girls:
Caroline (nn Calleigh) (both are family names for our Carolines)
Harper
Kate
India
Campbell (family name)
Sloane
Piper
Lily

Boys:
Jack (not Jackson, just Jack, ha,ha)
Cooper
Campbell (family name)
Harrison
Sam (family name, not Samuel, just Same)

I had no idea how popular my son's names (Max Kendell) would be four years ago! There just were no babies I knew named Max or Kendell. They were both very important family names for us. Now, I know several of both.

I like Skylar for a boy or girl, and Aislinn (Gaelic for "dream") for a girl.
I also like Claire and Alba for girl's names (Okay recently reread Time Traveler's Wife, I'll admit it.)

carnation 06-18-2008 08:08 AM

I've seen about 5 different pronunciations for Aislinn--which one do you use?

ASUADPi 06-18-2008 09:22 AM

Girls

Annikah
Emerson
Grayson
Finley
Olivia
Presley
Phoebe
Delilah
Sawyer

Boys

Caleb
Jonah
Nathaniel (as much as I love this name, I probably won't use it because everyone will shorten it to Nathan or Nate, which wouldn't be his name)
Connor
Elijah
Jackson
Landen
Quinn
Vincent
Zachary

I have a lot of names because I figure it depends on 1) what my spouse (whoever he may be) will like and 2) what his last name is.

I know that no matter what my daughter will have the name Beatrice in her name, whether it be her first name or her middle name. (It is in honor of my grandmother, who I was really close too, she passed in October 05).

Searching through the baby names at babynames.com, I cam across some names where I was like WTF?!?

Arizona (why would you name your kid after a state? Any state?)

Pluto (yes, because all children want to be named after a planet)

Pirate (don't know where to begin on this)

Phoenix (okay naming your kid after where they were concieved is one thing, but Phoenix)

Omega (why would anyone in their right mind name their kid after a greek letter, I'm greek and I still wouldn't do it)

DreamfulSpirit 06-18-2008 10:12 AM

I'll be honest...I'm not all for the weirdo, unique names.

These are my favorites:

Girls:

Samantha (and I don't mind it being Sam for short)
Savannah (maybe Anna for short?)
Krystina (aka Christina)
Kate or Katelynn

*A friend just had a baby girl and named her Evelyn...which I thought was really pretty!

*When I was going to ASU, I had a class with a girl named Winter, and she had 4 other sisters. So the 5 in total, these were their names: Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Rainy.

Boys:

Adam
Scott
Jeremy
Michael (I know its rather common, but I really do like it!)

*My ex b/f is having a son with another one of his ex g/f's, and his name is going to be Liam Michael (which is alright).

ISUKappa 06-18-2008 11:02 AM

Our son's name is Grant Edward. It suits him and works with our somewhat German last name.

I have no idea what I'm going to name this kid. Nothing is really standing out to me like it was when I was pregnant with G. Whatever it is, it will probably be somewhat short and classic/old-fashioned sounding but not extremely popular right now. I have a niece, Emma, who was named after two great-grandmothers. So the name has great meaning to the family, but there are also three other Emmas in her Kindergarten class.

I do remember when I was in middle school, my favorite name for a girl was Autumn Rose. Hello Harlequin romance novel!

You mean a dwarf planet. ;)

I remember having lists of names that I loved, and I used NONE of them for my own kids! Probably because I couldn't get my husband on board for some of them, but here they are:

Boys
Alexander
Gabriel
William or Liam
Seamus

Girls (since I didn't have any of these the list is a little longer)
Annelies
Marina Caroline (what my daughter would have been named if I had her)
Skylar
Shaelin
Aberlin or Aberlynn (like Lady Aberlin on Mr. Rogers)
Kate

I remember when I was little I wanted a little girl and I was going to name her Lori-Jill Shauncy Ann. I have no idea how I came up with that name!
