Honestly, most of my friends who were in sororities and I have just laughed at the program. It seems so odd to us how things are done and the creative editing that goes on. For all the pledges, it has to be a shock; the pledge period alone can be enough to handle without having to live in a house and have cameras follow you. Some of it isn't bad but I sure as hell would not want to be a part of this "reality" show.

Thanks!
Thanks for the link. If you review the whole Pbase album, you can see
that all six of the "Pledge House Pledges" make it as far as Spring Formal. I can stop watching the show now. They're not going to kick Jordan out. Candace is not going to get royally busted. Thanks again for the link. It was good to see the sisters in a context not controlled by MTV. |
One more thing...
One other thing: It looks like Jordan dumps her boyfriend:

so what did we all think of last night's episode?
i think they treat jessica like shit for no reason, just to be petty and catty. they are all in the same sorority, alll "pledges", why do candace and jordan seem to think they are somehow superior? jordan should have totally dumped her boyfriend, he was being a jerk and i think she could do better. ok, and if my sisters ever cought any new members drinking and not fullfilling their sober sisters requirements, shit would certainly hit the fan. it seems like if these girls do anything wrong, they just get talked to. they don't get in actual trouble. just my $.02. |
agreed
they seem almost hesitant to force a confrontation...
you either do your thing correctly or not and leaving poor jessica hanging because you were drinking is not right. |
Should it be called the jordan & candace show

And what the heck is up with Candace. I think I'm going to start calling her the conspiracy theorist. That girl is so paranoid that the sisters are out to get them in trouble, if I ever felt that way then I wouldn't want to be a part of that organization. Poor Jessica. What must she have thought once she saw this episode and the fact they totally dogged her regarding sober sister. Kudos out to Jessica for taking advantage of that and to MTV for showing it. |
i definately dont think i dig this show...can we say 'its candace and jordan time' ??? foreal.. ugh...
|
I find myself wondering whether MTV showed the final product to the sorority members before airing them. Seems to me that some of them need to do some major damage control... for instance, Candace owes Jessica a major apology for that sober-sister thing. And did the sisters know the new members broke the no-alcohol rule, or did they find out on Monday night along with the rest of us?

I've watched each episode so far. I'm pretty disappointed in the show, because there's very little sorority life in the Sorority Life series! I'll keep watching though, because I hope that there's some good that comes out of the series instead of the Candace and Jordan focus that we see so much of.
Although some things have been a questionable (that scene from the recruitment event showing the Sigma members discussing PNMs on camera, for example) I've enjoyed seeing the sisters of Sigma on the show. They seem to care deeply about their organization and their sisterhood and I wish they were on camera more. I'm really glad that there were sisters who made sure that Jessica got home safely, and proud of Jessica to know that she didn't need to be driving that night! I hope she makes it through and is initiated into Sigma because I just like Jessica. I wish we could see the entire New Member class instead of those living in the New Member house. I wish there was more about the day to day life of the sorority and it's members, and not just the few members that MTV are focusing on. I wish there was a disclaimer so that PNMs nationwide who view the show would know there really isn't such a thing as a "Pledge House" for sororities. I'd like to see the other girls living in the "Pledge House" and not just Candace and Jordan 90% of the time. I'm sure they're both nice young women having fun, but the image that MTV has given both of them hasn't been that complimentary. Christin |
i have come to the conclusion the pbs or someother respectable channel should do a documentary on what it is really like.

I heard somewhere (that makes this a rumor and I'll label it as such) that Jordan will become an MTV VJ as a result of this show. Boy, there's some journalistic integrity for you! They may be nice young women. They may be gold diggers who pledged just to be on MTV. They may have been planted by MTV. Who knows? I'd be very interested to hear from someone from Davis whether they were undergraduates there before this whole thing began. Does anyone know them? Were they, in fact, recruited by MTV? The point, I guess, is that day to day sorority life simply isn't exciting enough for "reality" TV, so MTV has manufactured the Pledge House and only shows scenes it can control and that will "sell." But we all expected that going in. Didn't we? I wonder how many women will rush/pledge "Sigma" next year and want to live the the Pledge House -- which will be gone. This whole program is manipulated. It would almost be funny -- if it weren't so sad. |
Funny thing...
I went to the Sigma website today for the fun of it, and from the looks of it, only Mara and Jessica decided to stick it out, because the others aren't listed on the active sister roster, which is pretty small. |
i thought there was an active jessica and mara and pledge jessica and mara...at least, thats the impression i was under...so maybe they just havent posted the newest initiates yet, is that possible?
