After looking at some dresses, I REALLY like the green dresses!!

Is there anyone who uses green dresses who could post some girls wearing them? It seems just as classy as black, not as often used as red, and a little easier to match than buff or red. Not to mention not as shocking when you enter the room as red.

I would really like to see the green in action!!

Maybe this goes against the grain of how people view tradition, but perhaps rather than having party dresses for Preference, maybe the way to set Alpha Gam apart could be a move to suits. I'm not thinking cheap suits, I'm thinking a nice tailored suit that would cost approximately the same amount as most dresses the girls would have made. Not only would the girls have a great sleek look, they'd have a suit that would carry over to when they have to interview.

Just a thought......

Amy, I really like the idea of that, but I would say if that was done, then it should be black suits b/c I dunno if I would ever wear a red, yellow or green suit or where you could even find them. Great idea tho!

Navy or tan (dark shade of buff!) would also be appropriate too!

I know that people wanted to get away from the funereal feel of black. I think you could even go for fall colors and have it turn out incredibly pretty – like dark brown, dark gold, dark cranberry, dark green – if all the suits/fabrics were the same. For Spring Rush, a pastel suit would look very feminine and pretty too.

I think I would be more impressed walking into a room with beautiful women in beautiful suits than walking into a room with beautiful women in party dresses. Students these days are concerned with getting a job out of college, I think if we did research, the professional organizations on campus have had a huge increase in membership. I think the social Greek organizations have stepped away from the networking/connection building and marketed too much on who’s the most “fun”. While the normal freshman wants to have a good time in college, most are there to get ahead and set themselves up for a good job. I think the party dresses are passé (and cultivate the wrong image of what we’re about), girls want polish and connections and I think this “makeover” might set us apart. I guess I reference to the way it was in prior generations (such as my Grandmother’s) when the whole fraternity system was much more of a networking and connection tool.

I am picturing a room of women in cranberry, dark gold, and dark green suits, and I think it would be so pretty and very classy! It would be so much more practical to buy suits than to buy or make dresses. You have a really good point about emphasizing the networking aspect, too. Great idea, Amy! :D

plus you really can't go wrong owning a nice suit. i'm still in school but i use one for class presentations.

i like that idea.
