Well, yes, but why? Does it supposedly lead to anything? Or is it just the "honor of being homecoming king/queen"?

I think some of those messages mentioned that and said if you choose to support her, don't publicize it on social media or anything. They just wanted to let it publicly known that they were supporting the Phi Mu candidate.

Mentioned in the Huffington Post article: "While it is okay to support her and vote for her if you REALLLLLLY feel called to do so, posting your support on social media is not fair to the rest of the house or future members of Alpha Gam." Then in another screenshot, someone says "like literally we love her so much and yes we can vote for her but it's the social media we have to show support for the machine."

YES.

pfffft.... Wonderful Social Media, putting everyone's laundry out there for the world to pass judgment on.

Exactly. As opposed to splitting the greek vote. Perhaps a non-Greek with a very non-Greek mindset and ideas breaks through and wins. Then they are fighting anti Greek sentiment and policy suggestions for a year.

I think it is a very smart little process they have going there to protect the greater establishment in the long run.

It's interesting that UA finally had a black Miss UA but it was kept on the DL. She was a Phi Mu.

Didn't she make Miss Alabama? I swear that there was a candidate last year named Tiara.

ETA: Yes, she did! https://www.al.com/life/2019/06/miss...the-crown.html

Maybe it is late and I am just out of gas today... why do you say it was "kept on the DL"? And I believe that she IS a member of Phi Mu still, isn't she?

Saying it was kept on the DL and then posting two examples of it being shared via the media . . . I'm confused.

Really! It was all over the news HERE IN ALABAMA! Everyone was very excited. She's from here in the Bham area..she and her mom just had Covid too. that was in the news.

NP, still waiting for a response. What do you mean by "it was kept on the DL"? Bumping this so it doesn't get lost.....

Heck, she even got an extra year as Miss Alabama due to CV19!

Phi Mu fraternity shared the news on their Facebook page in 2019, so I wouldn't consider it to be on the DL.

I don’t know what her current status with Phi Mu is. I just assume that she is an alumna since she’s done with school.

With UA being such a prominent school in the United States, I’m surprised it wasn’t national news. Yes I saw all of the links but they were local to Alabama and that region. I’m glad that she won however it was disappointing to find out almost 2 years later.
