I agree with CutiePie2000. The very first line in Phi Mu's Creed is "To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand". Then it says "To be to others what we would they would be to us" (which, to me, includes walking up to someone you don't know and being rude about whatever shirt they might be wearing). Then later on we've got "To minister to the needy and unfortunate". So if I was to see a homeless person wearing my letters or any letter shirt, I would not think of them as devaluing the meaning of those letters. I would think that whoever donated the shirt was doing a good deed and be happy that this person has a shirt to wear. To think otherwise, IMO, would go against the ideals of my sorority!

Very well put. :) |
also...
And furthermore...
I *hate* the term "GDI" anyways. I do NOT use that expression in any shape, form, or fashion. I am a Christian and I find it highly offensive. |
The homeless
Hey! I just wanna put my 2 cents in, don't wanna start anything!
Most homeless and poor have not been that way for their whole life and it was just circumstances that brought them there in the first place, maybe they did go to college and was a part of a GLO. Who are we to judge people? Don't judge a book by its cover. Nat |
Last Wednesday I was at work, helping a customer.
So I ring him up and he pulls out his Chi Omega Visa card. I ask him if his wife is a Chi Omega and he says nope. They just both have the card. I then informed him that Chi Omega is a sorority. He seemed surprised. |
umm, what is a GDI???

Several years ago I was on a step team and our coach was an Alpha Phi Alpha man. The team was getting ready to practice at this auditorium that we were performing in for a Black History program and there was a woman there in an APhiA sweatshirt. Our coach about freaked out and he approached her. He asked her where she got the sweatshirt and she said it belonged to her ex-boyfriend! He went ballistic! He wanted her to go home or wherever and take off the sweatshirt. Needless to say, she didn't. We had to calm him down, but we told him that he couldn't make her take off the sweatshirt. He even went to his car, got another tee shirt and asked her to wear that instead of the sweatshirt.
I felt bad for him, but I blamed the frat brother for not getting all his stuff back from the woman. In all honesty, I was glad it wasn't an AKA sweatshirt she had on... |

There's a guy I know from my dorm, who for some reason collects and wears sorority t-shirts. He knows exactly what they are, and wears them anyway...a Tri-Delt jersey, a Theta shirt that says "Real Women Wear Black", etc. He got them at Goodwill. He thinks it's funny; I just think he looks stupid.

we had a sister who was dropped from delta gamma a few years ago and was supposed to relinquish all her delta gamma gear.... i guess she didn't and her younger sister came to campus in a delta gamma shirt and would wear dg stuff frequently.... one of my sisters ended up b*tching her out...... don't think she's worn them since.
