At Texas Tech, letters are a big thing. As is the Greek system. We don't wear the sewn/embroidered letters. That seems to have fallen by the wayside here.

Party shirts and Rush shirts are really popular. Letters on gear is also popular: backpacks, windbreakers, drops, etc.

Attire on campus is pretty casual, so the party t-shirts are super popular.

Well, I am in Ft Worth now, but when I was in Denton, home of 2 fairly large schools, University of North Texas, and Texas Woman's University, you saw Letters EVERYWHERE!!! And even now in Ft Worth, with TCU you really see Party and rush shirts. I kinda think Greeks are a big thing here in Texas. Judging from the replies from the Ladies at Tech and Southwest TX(I think that was the other school mentioned, sorry) But hey, Go Texas Greeks!!!

Letter Shirts
 

Here at GC we wear our letter shirts everywhere, but mostly only on campus. I know that I put away most of my letter shirts in the summer and only wear my party tees. All of the GLOs on campus have their meetings on Monday nights, so that classes don't get put on this night. Then on Tuesdays my chapter has letter day. This shows all the freshmen who we are (we rush in the Spring) and how awesome we are too. So yes we wear letters!

When I was in college in the 90's we all wore bloch letters, too. Think it must just depend on your school and area you are in?! I still wear mine and that was 10 years ago! HAHA :-) I earned the right to wear them, so I do! :D

Here at U Florida EVERYONE wears letters, especially on those navy and orange windbreakers (every sorority girl just about has one). The entire greek community wears letters on Wednesday. It's "Letters Wednesday." I figured it was the same everywhere, but I guess not.

My sorority even has a tshirt chair because we have so many tshirts that we make. Not that many girls wear block letters (especially not me because the shirts are maroon which is too close to FSU's crimson for comfort) but all the guys have them.

At Pepperdine in the late 90s-early 2000s we wore block letters every Wednesday, plus any other time we wanted. Might be different now, but I doubt it.

Block letters are tacky.

At Texas you can tell who is in a fraternity or sorority pretty easily. If guys aren’t dressed smart (Polo, slacks), they're wearing either their fraternities shirt (pocket t-shirt usually) or a sorority event shirt. Almost my entire chapter wears a Beta hat. I switch between it and another organization I belong to. Girls are always wearing their letters, bags, purses, hats, ect.

Or the standard GLO letters, a Columbia or North Face jacket. :P

When we were looking at colleges a couple of years ago, we visited Wake Forest on what happened to be one of their designated "Letter Days." There were definitely block letters galore worn by both men and women.

Guys never wear their letters as the block shirts, it just looks goofy. Mondays are always letter days for girls but they wear them whenever. It's clearly different campus to campus, but we never wear block letter shirts, whereas University of Central Arkansas wears them every day. Guys have their letters pretty much only on party pocket t's and such.

I'll admit, I'm very guilty of this.

My chapter usually wears letter 2-3 times a week. We wear both block letters and bid day/party shirts. Letter hoodies are really popular around here.

I did this a lot in college, mostly because my sorority tote bag was the only bag/backpack I owned, so if I wanted to wear a lettered shirt and bring my books to class, I had to double letter. It's very common at Florida.

I have a couple shirts with block letters but I don't wear them too often. The popular thing here at West Virginia that every sorority has is windbreakers (some sororities have them in their colors, some have a standard navy blue). You'll see those all the time in the fall. Mostly I see people wearing bid day shirts or event t-shirts, and a lot of Homecoming sweatshirts too. Guys wear block letters more than girls do.

Maybe at your school they're tacky. At my school, jerseys like some schools have would've been tacky. Most of the sororities and fraternity shirts were the letter shirts, usually matching. As for hats, not many guys at my school wore them, and they might have been asked to remove them in class.

Everyone in Seattle wears Columbia and North Face...it's certainly not a sign of a Greek here.
