Well we have two i can think of right now:

Sigma Chi: Smelly guy(but don't tell them we say that, they don't know yet, lol http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif )

Iota Beta Chi : i oughta be a Guy (also, just cause it sounds like it, not an insult by any means)

We also have a song written on every greek chapter on campus and now other greeks, it's way too bad to post here, but if any one wants it bad enough, tell me i may put it up or e-mail it, cause it's too funny

At Southeast, the Sig Taus were off campus (they just got recognized again in April-YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!) because of some very LONG drawn out affair with a staged hazing that someone recorded...very messy. Anyhoo, your Nationals let them keep their charter, so they got to use their crest, conduct official business, etc. (Bet THAT made the school officials mad!) They are a wonderfully close bunch of guys (hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?) that participated (and won) in many IM games and philanthropy events. Most of the sororities had their philanthropy events open to the "whole campus" just so they could participate. Instead of getting Sigma Tau Gamma printed on their shirts, they always had STG for Super Tough Guys. I don't think it's derogatory at all-to me it stands for strong brotherhood overcoming obstacles. I look forward to participating with these fine men as Sigma Tau Gammas this year!

Most of the names are the same at my school ....but no one mentioned PI KAPPA FINE for PI KAPPA PHI ... and then we have the saying ..." you party with a ZTA sleep with a KD and marry and AOII"...

Sounds like everyone has the same exact name for TKE everytime....well here at Akron we have a better one.

TKE = Tau Kappa Everyone

They got this name because they took like 40 guys in one semester which is pretty much unheard of on our campus (our largest men's pledge class is like 15). After that semester they continued to take 20+ members for the next two or so semesters.

Couple other ones:

ADPi - Akron Dog Pound, Shadypies
Alpha Gamma Delta - Alpha Grabba Doughnut (older one)
Alpha Phi - All for free

Lambda Chi Alpha - Lamb Chops, Lambada Chee
Sigma Nu - Sigma Who?

We have more chapters than that....but not all have well-known nicknames.

skulls

I think that I know why the Phi Kappa Sigmas use the Skulls as their nickname. I almost rushed Phi Kappa Sig when I was looking at different fraternities. It's part of their tradition. The founder of the fraternity, Dr. Samuel Brown Wylie Mitchell, used the skull as a symbol of wisdom and medicine. He was actually a surgeon and held the first meetings of the order in his office. The cool thing was that during the civil war, when Union and Confederate soldiers found each other wearing the skull pin, they actually helped out brothers. I think that this is right but I'm not sure. Please correct me fellow Phi Kaps on anything. The chapter at my school is really cool and I just wanted to say best of luck to all skulls. Even though some of these names aren't very nice, our Alumnae Panhellenic had a lot of laughs several months ago telling all of the names we've heard. We knew they were derogarory but could still laugh at ourselves. Some of them are

ADPi - After Dinner Piece
Phi Mu - Rattle Rattle-Here come the cattle-Phi Moooooo
Chi O - The infamous song of Chi O, Chi O - It's off to bed we go -etc.
Delta Delta Delta - If you can't do better, you can always Tri Delta
Delta Gamma - Daddy's Girls
and the usual ones for Alpha Chi Omega & Chi Omega and ZTA

I'm married to a Phi Kappa Sigma and have a son who is a Kappa Sigma. My husband is always telling him "There's no Kappa Sig like a Phi Kappa Sig!" By the way the information given about why the Phi Kap's are called the Skulls is correct - in addition, a skull is prominent on their pin. They are also known as the Ghosts at some schools.

Laugh at ourselves - it is fun!!

We've also gotten "Drama Phi Beta" and "Gamma Phi HATA." ;)

I have lots and lots of not nice names about everyone but I don't want to get anyones panties in a wad. I will throw in one that a big hazing chapter used to call SigEp, which was SigOops, and kind of funny.

The three that stood out in my mind from my college were:

Kappa Kappa Gamma= Kappa Kappa Gucci

ATO= A$$holes Training Others

Sigma Chi= Sigma Cheese

I lived with 3 Kappa's my sophomore year and I never did understand why their sorority had the "Gucci" nickname. The girls were very nice, down to earth and not really snobby...and the Sigma Chi's were always very cool and threw great parties, didn't understand that label either...as for the ATO's, well....

Gamma Phi Beta: Grab a vibrator
Kappa Kappa Gamma: Visa Visa Mastercard
Sigma Delta Tau: Spending Daddy's Trillions
Sigma Kappa: Sigma Krappa
Zeta Beta Tau: Zillions, Billions and Trillions
Zeta Tau Alpha: Zits, tits and armpits

Very Poor Taste

This thread should be deleted, and urge all to not make any further posts. This is not the type of thing that we should be encouraging, as no good can come from it.

Silence, Phi Mooooooooo! :p

I don't think any Greek out there can honestly say they've never thought/said ONE derogatory thing about another GLO. I don't see how this is any different than making fun of a sports team, another thing most of us have done. If some PNM on here doesn't join Gamma Phi Beta just because we get called "Gummy Thighs" at some schools, then I hope she's happier in Visa Visa Mastercard or Phi Moo. It's a pretty lame reason to not join a GLO.
