I don't know a whole heckuva a lot about the history of cheerleading, but i'm pretty sure it's not a traditionally female pursuit. I'm sure that along with the implementation of sports teams in colleges, pep squads or yell leader squads were implemented and consisted of male members.

Trent Lott, one of our senators, was a Cheerleader in the 50's at Ole Miss.

A&M has had nothing but male yell leaders, but then again, our traditions are based on our history as an all-male military school.

Now, i'm gonna guess that's its an accurate statement to say that cheerleading today is worlds different than cheerleading in the 1890's. Today's cheerleading may be more geared towards women, but i believe the roots of the sport involved males.

hey did you guys see the espn commercial where some UNLV cheerleaders are in the coffee room taking a break. well the blonde is a kappa sigma. dont get me wrong it is good exposure but the commercial was SOO stupid. oh well anything to get UNLVs name out;)

the blonde kappa sig that sigkapqueen was talkin about is succcch a sweet kid. and def. not gay :) i think male cheerleaders are the bomb diggity haha ... and if they are gay, then so what! they are doing what they want to do.. and are having fun with it.. and GOD they are soo pretty to look at ;) :D

Right. Cheerleading was actually "invented" at my former school, the University of Minnesota.
