I am pulling for Alpha Sigma Tau to announce next that they are colonizing at IU. I know they could do it.

LowD is right. I worked at Penn for a number of years, and Greek life is big for underclassmen. The houses that the women live in aren't anything special. Some houses are leased, while others are University owned. Even for the fraternities, only three I think own their house. Anyway, it seems once students hit 21, they're done with Greek Life and onto the bar scene. It's not 90%, but I bet it might be close to half.

I am anxious to see what organizations put in for Indiana. And I know I am biased but getting the Tau chapter back for Sigma Kappa would be awesome!!

A lot of women decide to drop out of the process if they don't get their desired houses, the desired houses tend to be the most exclusive with smaller pledge classes.

Also, the only reason the unhoused chapters seem successful and have similar sized chapters it is because most do informal fall and spring recruitment. The retention rate for unhoused chapters isn't very high.

Are you working with the ASA chapter at IU?

I'll be the first to admit that I was leery of our recolonization there, but now that we're there I'm pulling for us to succeed and hopefully bring about change (either in the system or in IU stopping being jerks and freeing up land).

IU has freed up land. This was one of the main reason SK decided to re-colonize. We will be building as soon as the colony is installed and chartered. From what I gather, we should start building next spring. Any organization who can raise the capital to begin contraction can purchase a lot and begin. IU is freeing up an entire section of campus housing that had been married student housing in the past. The area is directly behind Greek Row (North Jordan) and is a great location close to campus.

513 girls dropped out of recruitment. These are women that had houses left but didn't like their choices.

I know that the housing being torn down is married student housing for students with or without children. There is a high percentage of international students living in the buildings, but it is not exclusively international. I saw children playing in the snow in that housing area, and they were not international.
