I guess Barney Fife was the officer who handled the case . . .

It's possible....who knows with those small town southern PDs.....

SWTXBelle 01-29-2014 11:28 AM

Speaking as the sister of an actual small, southern town police officer, I have to say that what would fly as a funny 1960s era comedic stereotype is not the reality on the ground.

But then, we are dealing with fiction.

Lesson learned! And I hope none of you on here ever have something like this happen to you.....

Well then this whole mess has been worth it, hasn't it? :p

It is odd that the seller "was notified about this site by an eBay member" and gee it seems coincidental that YOU were there the moment the seller joined, posted, then immediately banned....just long enough for YOU to get the screen shot....hmmm

I'd love to hear the rest......

:D Nice try. Fail at connecting dots, once again. Fail at trying to cast shade on someone else to divert attention from your own malfeasance. Now be careful what you ask for. You still haven't learned your lesson.

Sadly, your that's not true. The police report is there, it's just incomplete in regards to what all was stolen, and what was apparently damaged to the house...the thing to learn from this is that make sure if you are ever burglarized, you gotta make sure all the t's are crossed and all the I'd are dotted.

It's a shame because not only is one victimized from the original theft, but if the paperwork is incomplete then, if any of your stuff turns back up, you can become a victim all over again......

We all know you have to have the last word. Even when it is painfully apparent that you are in the wrong. Please, go for it. Don't let us down. We're enjoying our popcorn.

Because in order for insurance to compensate you, they have to calculate replacement costs on EACH THING STOLEN. Not "a bunch of jewelry".

The police report should have those details from the insurance company, regardless of what was told to them. Insurance will require a far more detailed list than the police.

The fact this is not on the insurance report? HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

OR perhaps they were not really stolen in the first place and the storyline/plot was a bunch of crap! :)

Funny, but this article was posted in my local paper today...

Yeah, somebody's house got broken into and the hot merchandise showed up at the pawn shop. It happens.

The story is more about how the victims whose stuff got stolen cannot get their items back unless they pay the pawn shop...or goto a lengthy court battle, which seems like it goes against all reasoning about what one would think should happen if tut stuff is stolen.....

As the niece of a small town Southern police officer (and gentleman), I think you owe a lot of hard working, honorable, intelligent, and brave men and women who serve as law enforcement officers an apology for that ignorant, bigoted remark.

IrishLake 01-31-2014 05:53 PM

You'll be waiting for a while, fascination. Badgeguy is the epitome of narcissist. To concoct a story like this... (Yes, we know it's a story), in an effort to keep GC members from bidding on these Kappa Keys and/or to find out who he might be bidding against is despicable.

WTF does this have to do with your bullshit story about your "friend?"

SWTXBelle 01-31-2014 07:49 PM

So, the friend lived in Ohio?

And going through small claims court is neither expensive nor time-consuming, despite what the hyperbolic news reporter said.

I will also note - THE BADGES IN QUESTION WERE NOT IN A PAWNSHOP.

So, your latest feeble attempt at trying to make your story fly is once again a massive fail.

As to the badges - I LOVE A HAPPY ENDING!

There is good advice for your "friend" in the article: "Police recommend photographing valuables including jewelry and keeping the photos in a cloud or Dropbox in case a computer or tablet is stolen. Pawnbrokers say any theft victim file a detailed police report as soon as they realize something has been stolen. They also recommend people keep serial numbers for their electronics handy to provide to police. "
