I'm still rooting for Allison and Laura. |
I love Joanie; she's from my little corner of the world. (Well not exactly, but within 75 miles or so.) Last I heard she had a really good career and was working a lot. She has the Christie Brinkley beauty- the All-American thing. I liked Danielle, too- it was one of those seasons where both were good enough to win.
Yeah, I'm rooting for Laura and Allison, too. Sheena and Isis were my favorites...look at how that worked out. |

Cycle 6: Joanie for sure. Jade is too old now, but she would have brought the comedy! Cycle 7: Melrose Cycle 8: Natasha or Jael Oh and Angelea is a mess. That is all. |
I do have to say though I understood where Angelea was coming from after Nigel got on her after the interview. I would have done the same thing. I always will think of interviews as a time to be professional not a time to let loose and look like a crazy idiot/drunk/whatever. I got her confusion and how upset she was by the comments Nigel made. I applauded her by asking Nigel what he meant.
I have to say though, this is one of the few times that I have actually liked Angelea, as 99.9% of the time she bugs the crap out of me. |
I totally agree about how Nigel confused her. I understand why she was upset and I would have been upset, too. I understand why she asked for clarification and I'm glad she had the guts to ask. But how she was acting all the time leading up to that was beyond understandable. She was acting ridiculously aggressive (even for her) and her interaction with Nigel was only slightly redeeming. I hope she does better next week.

The show is just ending, so I won't spoil it yet.
I don't agree with the judging tonight. |
I don't know why they were bitching about some of the girls' Express pics being too commercial. Express is a commercial line, not Haute Couture, and probably would have been thrilled with those pics. I actually wish it was the Express lady as the guest judge so she could tell them so.
Also, k_s...you thought it should have gone the other way, or you thought neither of those two deserved it? It's too early to get rid of Lisa because she's good TV, that's how I knew it was going the way it did. |

I know what Tyra is trying to accomplish (America's Next Top Tyra, essentially), but I don't think the world is really looking for another "well rounded" model. The women who can really model are being shafted in favor of the "I want to be an actress, a singer, a dancer, a..." ones. |
I didn't see her cycle, but to me, Camille is kind of blah. Not memorable this cycle. None of her pics were anything more than decent. Lisa is at least memorable and has had a couple excellent pics. I didn't even think that her pic this week was that bad (not great, either but better than Bianca's), and that they were really only hard on her because they expect more out of her.

Total tangent, but this reminds me of a debate I had recently with some theatre folks...one of the Jonas brothers, who actually had a legit Broadway career before their teen stardom, is set to join the Broadway cast of How to Succeed in Business next year. They were bemoaning the fact that they believe that celeb status rather than talent got him that role. I argued that regardless of personal interest/emotions over this decision, Broadway is first and foremost a business and an art form secondary. It kills me as an actress to say, but reality is reality (except on tv ;)). |

I remember Tyra's era being filled with the supermodels, so I understand why she's using that as her frame of reference. I don't think we're going to have another supermodel boom, though, so why not have a modeling show with women who can actually model? I don't care if "you don't like the drama and you're not here to make friends" lol |
^^With the exception of Tyra and Giselle, how many semi-recent models can you name period?
Tyra keeps talking about ANTM launching their CAREERS. The truth is, you can't have a career as JUST a fashion model. Unless you KILLED IT in your late teens/early 20s and spent VERY wisely, at some point in your life, you're going to have to do something else. Even Camille was talking on this episode about models not making as much as they used to, and having trouble paying her bills. I can't fault Tyra for trying to set them up for better things than that. |
Does someone have a link to episode 4? Neither youtube nor google are my friend today.

Selita Ebanks Doutzen Tocarra Chanel Iman Of course, since I watch this show religiously, I may not be the most representative person lol How about teaching them how to photograph? Direct? Host? I also think it's good that Tyra is trying to get them to do more than just look pretty, but judging someone because she flubbed a line on a medical show is stupid. I remember a few years back when they had to act like they were on the red carpet and read names off of a teleprompter. THAT makes sense. If you don't know YSL, D+G, Gucci, etc, then you probably don't need to be in that industry. However, if you aren't familiar with barbiturates, that shouldn't make you a failure as a model. ETA: I think Lisa has an interesting personality that lends itself to comedy/acting, but if that's the path that she wants to take, then she should be a comedian/actress. If you want to be a model, then dammit, you need to model. |

Sidereel shows you all available shows to watch online. |
Yeah, the only places I could find the episodes, viewing outside the US is restricted. I finally gave up and read the recaps. Not having seen the show but going on how I've felt on the previous episodes, I'll bet I agree with the results. To me Camille looks like an unconvincing drag queen and Lisa looks like that girl who partied hard in her teens and early twenties and is trying desperately to hold onto that persona.
